BTW, I believe that Gary was 100% right - Gagne was refusing to throw anything but fastballs because he hoped that the shadows would make them tough to pick up. You think he doesn't know how much he sucks? Beltran singles, Church doubles, and it's 4-2. Brewers keep Gange in, because they're stupid?
figueroa for a 2nd inning against the heart of the order? think the mets are desperate in the bullpen?
Obviously he failed, but I can't really be that upset - the pitch Braun doubled on is exactly the kind of pitch Smith would have thrown anyway. We already know that it's a coin flip as to whether the bullpen can hold any lead anyway.
At this point I don't think you can complain about a bullpen move unless Manuel lets someone pitch to their opposite hand in a big spot. Everyone stinks.
Howard just doubled in Victorino. Don't like using Ayala as the 9th inning man. Is there some reason why Smith can't start the 9th facing Hall, who is hitting .175 against righties?
And now it turns out that Beltran did get hurt because of the asshole umpire. Lovely. Ayala is NOT a closer, Jerry.
