I heard he's only 195 lbs. As long as we are making stuff up. And on TV he looks like he's only about 16 inches tall. _
I venture to say most of the haters here tonight have fuck all real first hand knowledge on this kid, myself included, but are waxing eloquent about his lack of size just by sheer observation at the draft podium. LOl, even giving Mac demerits while knowing shit all about the player. So you rather take a chance on a player that might not play for at least a year or more on the first round? Not one mentioned the fact that this is a position of dire need. Last year we lost because of zero speed at that position, we looked like LBs Running on quick sand. I have a feeling he can bulk up some and be a force on all 4 downs. We tried to move up apparently, but when it failed, we stuck with BPA as assessed by the experts, not us thank God.
I can't argue with someone that can't quote properly. I listed his HEIGHT from the combine (you said 6-0 and you can't inflate that at the combine) and when this 21 year old gets in an NFL program he'll easily be 235. And not sure what Gholston has to do with this pick. Oh, the college. From 10 years ago. Oh right, that's relevant. _
I fine with the pick. But we'll see what happens. Worth a 20? I think so with Bowles ' system. BPA? I don't think so. It's a position and player we needed.
20. Darron Lee, LB, Ohio State The Jets needed to add speed and talent on their defensive front, and that's what they get in Lee. He's a rangy linebacker who has some potential as a pass rusher. Getting him at the No. 20 pick in the draft is something of a steal. Grade: A-
Darron Lee | OLB, Ohio StateHeight: 6-1 Weight: 232Like this pick a lot. He is a speed linebacker and they need speed on defense. Good pick.
20 20 Darron Lee Ohio State OLB NY Jets Video Highlights What he brings: One of the better space linebackers in this class, Lee is a rangy run defender who shows fast eyes and quality recognition skills. His best value as a prospect comes on third down, during which he has the athleticism to matchup in zone or man coverage. He is an underrated blitzer. While he is undersized and will never be a strong point-of-attack defender, Lee is an ideal fit for today's game and should quickly develop into an impactful weak-side linebacker. -- Kevin Weidl How he fits: Lee is an excellent value at this point. Though he doesn't appear to be an ideal fit for the Jets' scheme, he has the potential to develop into an effective weakside inside linebacker in New York's base 3-4 scheme and the Jets have a need there with Demario Davis signing with the Browns this offseason. At the very least, he has the range and athletic ability to make an immediate impact on third down. -- Steve Muench
Apparently he inflated his height at the combine because someone is maintaining he's only 6-0. Plus he's not really 21, he's 34. He forged his birth certificate at the combine too. And there is no way a 220 pound 21 (I mean 34) year old can pack on 15 pounds in an NFL weight program. He'll probably lose weight and play at 175. _
Love the pick thank you Mac! Cant wait for round 2 tomorrow it's absolutely loaded. I hope we can land Spriggs.
been on the Lee train for a long time It was Leonard Floyd or Lee for me so I can't complain. Great work Mac, now go get us a QB tomorrow.
For everyone who is suggesting he is too small to be an every down linebacker: Myles Jack (who everyone agrees would have been a top 10 pick if not for his knee issues) is listed at 6' 1" and 225 pounds. Wasn't he projected to be an every down LB?
I have no idea how Lee will turn out. I'm totally ignorant on him. What I'm sick of is our continued acceptance of below average QB play. I really hope Bryce Petty is the guy for this team. I pray it's the case, but I'm skeptical. Somehow I feel like Denver did better than us in this case.
Don't try to use logic against some of these posters...lol And even if you want to say Myles Jack is more talented than Darron Lee. Lee has a clean bill of health, Jack doesn't.
