Word on the street is that he's off to Denver. Wilson and a 7th to Denver for a 6th. It's been nice, Zach... keep slinging it.
Ian Rapoport on X: " Former #Jets starting QB and No. 2 pick Zach Wilson is on the move. Sources say he’s being traded to the #Broncos, hoping for a fresh start. The deal includes a late-round pick swap (6th for a 7th) and NYJ will pay some of Wilson’s roughly $5.5M salary. https://t.co/7Y1KShZ3sg" / X (twitter.com)
Random question does the part of the salary that we're paying count against our cap. Or do we save all of the five million?
A pick that was worse then Sanchez, Geno. There were worse QBs at times. I think Hackenburg is all time worst but at number 2 overall. Yikes
Well, we got SOME value back - in fact pretty much the same value as Mac and Fields, a 6th rounder. Though Fields might fetch a bit more if he actually plays a lot. This is as good as JD could have done. Patience was the key here. Some folks were asking to just waive him, but JD has done better.
Did they pick up any of the money in my first question. I feel like that "some" will end up being wrong lol
Good landing spot for Zach with Payton. Low floor to clear of course, but my money would be on him playing better there then he played here if given the opportunity.
It's about the best that could happen for both parties. The Jets get rid of a problem, Zach gets to play close to home for a HC that knows something about offense, and the Broncos get a QB with upside. I'm glad it worked out this way.
