FML... I was looking forward to going to this game. I am going to stay home. This is going to get called another major front is moving in.
I agree, looks like no chance this will get played tonight. Heavy constant rain forecast. I wonder if they will schedule a day/nighter for tomorrow or bring them back to town for 1 game or just drop it unless a tie occurs.
So they lose CC's arm in this series unless they play a doubleheader tomorrow. Not what the Yanks needed especially with Mitre and then a shaky Joba after that.
Just came in to post something on that. Yankees can kiss this year goodbye too. But wait, Cashman went out and got Gaudin..we're ok. Not to mention Chamberlain who can always pitch on something between 5 and 10 days depending on how they feel that week.
Do you really think that the Rays would trade Kazmir to the Yankees? No way they would've moved him within the division. And the Yankees still have a better lineup and much better bullpen than LAAAAAA. I'm not concerned.
Good game..amazing the weather held out long enough. Surprise, surprise..there are new Joba rules and they are (drum roll) that there are no Joba rules. I don't know why they say they have to shorten his outings though. It's a miracle if he ever pitches 5 innings. "The New York Yankees have scrapped their plan for Joba Chamberlain once again, opting to give him a regular spot in the rotation for the remainder of the season and shorten his outings to hold down his innings. Chamberlain had been getting extended rest between some starts since the All-Star break because the Yankees are concerned about the 23-year-old's workload in his second full season in the majors. "It's the results. The bottom line is for us to win games and get the best out of players," manager Joe Girardi said before the Yankees hosted the Chicago White Sox on Friday night. "So in evaluating what happened, it looked like it was working great. He came out of the break, was lights out, but we think that a change needed to be made." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/08/28/yankees.chamberlain.ap/index.html
Of course, the important part is still in place: UPDATE, 4:30 p.m.: Joba Chamberlain will be in the rotation moving forward, meaning he will pitch every five games. They decided he needed to pitch more regularly. The innings limit hasn?t changed. Some starts will be less than five innings. UPDATE, 5:51 p.m.: To clarify the Job situation: He will start Sunday and every five games (not days, games) moving forward. The first few starts will be cut short at a pre-determined amount. Then he will be built back up toward the end of the season. The innings limit has not changed. This is just a different way of getting there. He has pitched poorly in recent outings and the hope is that getting back to a regular routine will help him. Once the rosters expand on Tuesday, they?ll have a large enough bullpen to cover the gaps.
Yeah, he sucked early this year. In 4 of his last five games he has given up 3 runs or less. Too bad we didn't have a pitcher that good. I wouldn't expect you to realize that though.
The innings limit won't change but who is going to pitch the last 5 innings of every game? What's the point? You still don't get it.
