My first Jet's mock for 2017. I was going to wait till the end of the season, but our draft position will barely change. I'm not going to guess on specific Free Agent players we are going to sign. I will state, we will most likely sign a vet QB, and possibly add depth to the offense on the line and backfield, also DL & Secondary. I have a friend who lives near South Bend and he says it's not 100% McGlinchey will stay for his 5th year. He has heard he is having second thoughts, we will know soon. I would seriously consider McGlinchey at #6 if he declares. Rd 1 REUBEN FOSTER - ILB - BAMA......A true leader and culture changer. Best LB in College football. Outstanding instincts and can cover sideline to sideline. Great run stuffer and can cover TEs and RBs. Much better player than Ragland & Hightower. Allen is a great player, but Foster might be a better pro. Rd 2 GARRETT BOLLES -OT- UTAH......Nasty Player that is a true LT, still learning the game and needs to improve his strength. Could move up into Rd 1 based on lack of quality OTs in this draft. Not a good year to draft a OT. Only other concern, older player, Mike Mac doesn't like to draft older players. Rd 3 KEVIN KING - CB - WASHINGTON.....Good size CB that Bowle's defense prefers. A solid player on a very good Washington defense. Could potentially be a day one starter. Rd 5 JON TOTH - C - KENTUCKY......Experienced Center that has had success in a tough SEC. Could also play guard if needed. Leader on the Wildcat team. Rd 6 JOSH JONES - S - NC STATE....Recently declared. Good Size safety that has played SS & FS. Looked better in Coverage this past season. Former teammate of J. Burris. Rd 7 MICHAEL ROBERTS -TE - TOLEDO.....Seen a few Mac games and Roberts is a good receiving TE. Clearly, I can't cover every need in a six selection draft, that will be what F.A. is for.
Yes pretty good 3 key offensive pieces we need Forget Foster..I hear that Bobby Boucher from S Central Louisiana State is declaring himself eligible this year haha
u rock man, just fax this over to met life and u can save their 5 million bux draft budget this year.
Appreciate the kind words. I really love Foster & King. Not many people are talking about Kevin King, he's a solid CB, that goes after the ball and highpoints away from the receiver. Plays very aggressive. Check out some You tube videos on King.
With the running game that Kentucky has had, I would almost take any lineman they have... Especially the Center! I think he is a steal in that round
IMO, only 2 players will be off the board when the Jets are OTC, Allen & Garrett and maybe Barnett after his bowl game vs Nebraska tonight, he's a monster. The QBs are real ??????s.
Seems like we'll have alot of options from Alabama. Marlon Humphrey and Cam Robinson would be solid picks at positions of need. Foster makes sense and Allen could be BPA although I'd like to stay away from the position.
They need OT, pass rusher or CB with their 1st two picks. Got to get quality guys at premium positions.
what if allen is on the board when we pick, will we go for it again knowing the team has so many holes on other positions?
Just like we took Williams in 2015, you take the BPA. A lot of people didn't like the William's pick, because of depth on the D-line. That pick looks very smart almost 2 years later. The draft is to build your team for the future, not an immediate need, because most players need time to develop. I believe the Allen availability is a moot point, he should be long gone, especially since the QB class is very week and none are worth a Top 5 pick.
Big fan of Foster but I would hate to not draft a edge rusher in a draft as good as this one. Barnett or Tim Williams would be great.
I respect your opinion immensely, but couldn't possibly disagree with you more regarding Allen. If the Jets take him, that would be a disaster. IMO the very LAST thing they need or can afford to do is take yet another DL. I don't care if Allen is a sure-fire HOFer. If he's there and that good, there should be some team willing to trade up and get him, and the Jets either have to trade down or take the 2nd best player. Taking another DL would not help this team in the least. We've already seen what Bowles did this season with 3 DEs. We certainly don't need a 4th DE/DT, and still not have a single 4-3 DE
I haven't had much time to watch/follow college football this season, so can't really speak to any of the players you pick, but like the positions you addressed, and I know that you do your research and the picks must be solid players.
I don't expect Richardson to be with the Jets in 2017, was my thinking, I wouldn't pass on Allen at #6, we can make him work in this defense. It's moot, because he's going to a top 3 at worst. Cleveland should take him or MG and get their QB with their other 1st rd pick (Philly). I love Foster and Allen for our 1st pick, but Derek Barnett has to be given serious consideration, he's a pass rush demon.
Watching Kevin King, CB, #20, Washington in the game and I'm very impressed with his play tonight. Big press, cover corner that would be perfect in Bowle's defense.
