Jets | Former WR Chrebet still suffering from concussions Thu, 15 Feb 2007 07:50:46 -0800 Citing an interview with the Bergen Record, Stan Olson, of the Charlotte Observer, reports former New York Jets WR Wayne Chrebet, who retired after the 2005 season due to suffering 13 concussions during his football career, is still bothered by post-concussion symptoms. "Healthwise ... everything except for my head is fine," Chrebet said. "I still have a lot of struggles. It still gets gradually worse at times. I just try to talk to as many people as possible, talk through it with doctors about the long-term future." Some of the symptoms Chrebet is hampered with include headaches, lethargy and sensitivity to light and sound. "I still don't want to scare people, but I'm more concerned," he said. "Hopefully in the near future, these things subside and no one needs to know about them because they're going away."
this was posted awhile ago, i think before the superbowl there was a full article about him and what he was up to, those quotes are from it
Very scary, I honestly had no idea he suffered that many...chances are he took the field many times when he never should've been out there. Chrebet is one of my favorite competitors in all of sport. I know other guys like Jeff Beukeboom, Scott Stevens, Pat Lafontaine, have all had PCS symptoms linger for a year or so after retirement. But eventually he should turn the corner.
