Baseball is good again! This is the first time since 1992 where the two teams I wanted in the World Series when the playoffs began actually both made it to the World Series.
LOL at Mike Francesser saying repeatedly during the week of October 11-15 that Phillies-Yankees was going to be an all-time classic World Series.
Guys what are you drinking right now? I just sprayed my own jism in my mouth! I can't believe my METS have finally done it!
I'll probably watch the Sportscenter highlights if they happen to be on as I'm watching Sportscenter.
Well, the Rangers GM grew up a Mets fan and must still be one at heart. The Mets wear orange because it was a Giants color and they played in New York before the Mets came into existence. So that's the Mets angle there. I can totally see it. It's almost like the Mets are in the World Series. :drunk:
you mets fans are crazy lol.....im not a phillies fan but were rooting for them, anyway that last pitch was a ball if i ever saw one. not to say werth gets the next out but it should of been his game to win or loss. bad call
The series might end up being an artistic success, but this is a disaster from a business point of view. The TV ratings for the last 5 World Series have been pretty bad, but this one will probably join 2008 (Phils-Rays) as the only ones to not have a single game with a rating over 10. Every WS game has had a share of at least 15, except for the 2008 series, which didn't have a single game with a share over 15; it will be no surprise if the same thing happens here. Fox will even lose .2 or .3 on the national ratings if they don't settle with Cablevision. They are going to take a bath on this.
You do not look at a pitch THAT close(and it was very close) when the count is full, the season is on the line and the ump has been all over the strikezone. Ryan Howard is 100% at fault for his non-swing.
contract 22 teams, keep 8- problem solved new AL- Yankees, Red Sox, Cardinals, Angels new NL- Mets, Phillies, Cubs, Dodgers Yes, I am tired about hearing/reading about ratings. So sick of it with the NBA, too. "The league wants the Lakers or Celtics or both to make the Finals. It will be a disaster if the Blazers and Magic get there."
We'll see... I'm thinking California v Texas coupled with good baseball has a chance to get some viewers.
The 2005 Chicago/Houston series had poor ratings, and west coast teams don't get good ratings at all (the 1988 Oakland/SF series had the worst ratings ever until after the baseball strike, and the 2002 Anaheim/SF series had poor ratings except for game 7), in part because the games start so early on the west coast.
What can be done about it besides rigging the sport or contracting most of the teams? And how much stock should we put in ratings anyway? How are the numbers truly collected? As far as I know, nobody knows what I watch. I understand it to be that networks fib about their numbers.
Will be interesting to track as we've never seen a Texas team make it before. Personally I'll be rooting for the Giants as I respect the tradition of the club and (given my options) I'd like to see them back on top again. In the end I just hope we see some good baseball... both LCS were pretty exciting.
Good point... I really don't care about ratings anyway. Has no impact on my experience as a fan and I'm not sure if anybody has actually ever been able to connect those numbers to actual profits (although I'm sure if anybody can it's Jeff!)
