I feel your pain I feel your pain. I was at Game 6 at the Garden this past year and couldn't sleep all night cause a bunch of bandwagonners were rioting.
Wow, that sounds vaguely familiar... Congrats Philly. You're not the Red Sox, and you're not TBJF's team. I'm satisfied. Philly is still packed with douchebags though. This won't help change that.
No he's not. He's just going to go back to not even knowing that Tampa has a baseball team like everyone else there.
It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be watching the Phillies win, granted I only know one guy who is a Phillies fan and I live 2500 miles away but it's gonna be sickening the next time I fly home and I see those Phillies 2008 WS Champ shirts in the airport. In a way I'm glad because now it forces the Mets to go out and get better, it's bad enough you've given them the division 2 years in a row but now with them winning the WS Omar absolutely needs to go out and do something and not bring in somebody like Ryan Church or Matt Wise. They deserved it and they were the better team, congrats to them and hopefully we can get back what belongs to us next year.
that's how I feel. but it actually goes to show how bad an owner Fred Wilpon is by sticking with Omar Minaya, who he allowed to spend a bunch of money and right under his nose the Phillies built a WS team. so I don't have much faith in the Mets organization to actually do anything significant in response to the Phils winning.
I agree that he needs to make better moves, but what does Philly winning have to do with it? No matter who wins, if it isn't the Mets then they obviously need to get better. Just because the Phillies are in the same division doesn't make it any different. The fact that the Philles won the division means the Mets need to catch up, but even if they had lost in the first round the Mets still would be in the same position relative to Philadelphia.
That's actually a very good point, if you look at that roster Utley, Howard, Burrell,Rollins, Myers and Hamels were all high draft picks Victorino was a rule 5 guy, Ruiz was an amatuer FA Werth, Jenkins and Feliz were all FAs nobody wanted The trade for Lidge was theft and the other trades for Moyer and Blanton proved to be pretty good moves for them as well...... It's quite obvious they have been building for this for a while, apparently they get it and the Mets don't.
I don't think I have to know of every possible qualified person on the face of the earth to replace him with to know he should be replaced. big difference between the two. though I am sure you are proud of your ridiculously specious point. it has a lot to do with it. you don't think you can compare the decisions made by the Phillies and the Mets organizations in the teams they have fielded over the last 4 years and see there is a huge difference in the quality of the decisions and thus the ability of the individuals making them? come on, you can't honestly believe that.
It has everything to do with it...... It shows that the moves the Mets have made and not made have been wrong. The Mets took 12 out of 18 games against the Phils this year plus blew a 7-0 lead and lost in another one. Yes they obviously need to get better but watching a division rival especially one you played extremely well against winning the World Series after you for 2 consecutive years held leads enetering the final 2 weeks of the season show that certainly the talent is there to win the championship but Philadelphia has been able to win with that talent but the Mets haven't for whatever reason.
I must say I'm somewhat disappointed that the Rays didn't show up in in this series. After the way they pulled out game 7 in the ALCS after coming so close to a monumental choke, I really expected better from them. I still think they are a better team than Philadelphia, but I guess that's why they play the games.
Rays used their "Get Out Of Jail" card in the ALCS. All they had was the "Beauty Pagent Winner" card in game 2.
