Jets owner Woody Johnson admitted that signing C Nick Mangold to a long-term contract will be difficult this offseason. Both sides want to get something done -- Mangold is the best center in the NFL and not complaining publicly about his contract -- but rules in the uncapped year make an extension unlikely. "Within those rules, we’re trying to do the best job we can," said Johnson. "He's one of our guys." http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3647
Nothing surprising here. The amount of money Mangold deserves can not be achieved this year unless we do a deal similar to what 49ers gave Willis as far as bonuses are concerned. I wouldn't be surprised even if we did sign Mangold to an extension this year.
your absolutely right, i didnt realise how bad the title of the thread was till i read it again....anyway the only way i can see this being a problem is if he demands a new contract this off season but he doesnt seem like he's that type...
Mangold should actually be the first one signed out of our group of potential FAs....he's THAT important to this offense.
+ 1 It actually says in the article that Woody wants to re-sign him because he is "one of our guys" CHANGE THE TITLE!!!
please. your dumb title made me spit coffee at my monitor. cant be pullin that shit around here, esse
jesus christ failure thread. he is locked up this year..he isnt going anywhere. First of all these types of threads are unacceptable until the preseason starts not before. We may not even have football next year, so signing him this year would be retarded for Woody even though we would all want him to. btw: dont mean to come off like an asshole, but the thread title freaked me out.
thank god leon is fucking gone, but alvin keels is still haunting us. fuckfuckfuck. Now everyone on the Jets is thinking.."what if i get hurt like leon? will i be fucked too?"
I'm confident that Mangold will get a deal done at some point. Out of the "big 4" players, his contract is up first and his will probably be the cheapest.
