Just curious to know everyone's thoughts on this...we're in all likelihood gonna be embarrassed again, this time at home in front of hardly any (Jet) fans. I don't see any way Rex doesn't get the axe going into the bye. Keep him for what? To see the team not show up after a bye and get blown out for the sixth straight year? He needs to be finished

I think that depends on what Woody plans on doing about Idzik. If Idzik is likely to get shit canned Woody may just let things play out and start making decisions once the season is over. If Woody intends to have Idzik decide who the next coach of the Jets will be, they might dump Rex at the bye and begin working on his successor immediately.

It's not impossible, but if I were a betting man, I'd bet against it.

Its the most reliable way to ensure the team truly tanks the rest of the season.

If they've already decided to definitely move on from Rex, another end of season surge would be a disaster for them.

I think it's pretty obvious that Rex is completely mentally defeated right now and he probably knows he isn't going to survive the year. The Jets should do themselves and him a favor and let him go after this weeks game.

It gives Rex a chance to interview for any openings he's interested in and the Jets first crack at any HC's they're interested in.

Rex is on the payroll. I don't see Woody paying to stay home just so someone else can take the beatings.

As much as I want the high picks, I almost want to see Rex get the team's shit together. If he ever hopes to work outside of a TV studio in football ever again, that is.

Who would you replace him with? Dennis Thurman? Marty Mornhinweg? No, I think Rex stays 'til the end of the season unless he totally loses the locker room which doesn't seem likely. Besides, firing the coach mid-season doesn't seem to be the Jets way of doing things. Can't recall any Jet HC being fired in the middle of the season.

"Better fire Rex! Last thing we need is a late season surge!" If that is a worry, maybe he shouldn't be fired. It's not a worry though. The team is a mess.

With every loss, I smile more at the fact that Woody is getting embarrassed as a owner of this group of guys in this team

It is a worry if you're an owner who cares about his pub and has decided to stick with a GM that fans are literally paying money to help run out of town.

For all that has gone wrong this season, Rex has had some fantastic game plans this season that the players could not capitalize on... notably New England and Green Bay. It is not unreasonable to think Rex has it in him to still get something out of this shit show before his chapter ends.

He is a good coach, and it won't take long for him to find a new job. Rex's future will not be Woody's concern, but rather the consumers perception of the product he's selling.

It is really hard to say how Woody will approach this since no one really knows where Idzik stands in all this.

Good idea. They can pick out a fan and ask him if he wants to lead the J-E-T-S chant or coach the team.

While they're at it, they could ask the fan if he prefers projectile vomiting or explosive diarrhea.
