The play early in the game today when Geno was about to take off and run for a 10 - 15 yard gain, but passed it to Amaro across the field instead, made a lot of things that Geno has been doing much clearer today. The coaching staff for whatever reason has told him to STOP running the football on passing plays. It was the same deal last week against Chicago when he could have run for a 6 - 8 yard gain but instead threw an interception in the endzone. It's been at least 6 or 7 plays so far where he could have run, but for some reason just stopped. He's obviously having enough trouble as it is, so why the hell is the coaching staff preventing him from making plays with his feet to help the team win.
Still dangerous to throw across the field like that but I don't think he was going to get that many yardage had he ran it but he should have taken the chance to run for it. I think the hard hits and fumbles have taken away his running ability because heading into the Oakland game, that was a big strength of his and was something he was confident in doing. I do think the coaching staff might be getting into his head right now as far as playing it safe goes which is why he isn't going to force throws unless he's directly pressured in the face, which is what happened on the INT.
Because instead of teaching him to slide and be more protective with the ball they would rather take away 40 percent of his overall skill set
I don't blame him, 2 years in a row now he's basically booed per bad play at home at this point. I think he has a lot of coaching going on in his head and he isn't naturally playing or feeling the game, which is a big problem.
It's that and Marty trying way too hard to control him. The last play he had on 3rd and 1 where he passed to Ivory was clearly called that way. He got the ball, didn't make a single read and just threw it to Ivory. That's not on Geno, that's shitty coaching. Ivory has stone hands. The Lions knew we should try something short, let's do it anyways.
When you throw as many picks as Geno, you better bet the OC will control him. I just don't understand how you can sit here and defend Geno considering that his nineteen last starts have been pathetic play. Whether it's a high throw on a simple slant pattern, or a pick six, or fumbles he just finds a way to consistently screw up. I've been in denial for about the last year when it came to Geno's play, but enough is enough, he has shown me NOTHING to get my hopes up. His first season I gave him a pass, because our whole offense was pathetic, but again? Come on, all the franchise QB's improved significantly from year one to year two,; Geno has improved marginally, and that is clearly evident by our record and the seven turnovers he has had this season I think it's time for you to take off the green googles, and to enter the realms of reality. Geno, right now, is not looking like competent QB, or a future starter, just admit it.
