I don't understand why everyone is so surprised that this team is playing the way it is. Many are saying that with the "elite" talent this team has, they should be winning all these games. My question is who are all these elite players? Lets take a look at the roster and grade each starting player on their status as Below Average, Average, Above Average, Great, Elite O-Line Faneca - Great Mangold - Elite Woody - Above Average D'Brick - Average Moore - Average WR Edwards - Great Cotchery - Above Average TE Keller - Average RB TJ - Great Richardson - Above Average QB Sanchez - Average DEFENSE DLine Ellis - Above Average Pouha - Below Average Douglas - Average Backers Scott - Great Harris - Great Pace - Above Average Thomas - Above Average DBs Revis - Elite Leonhard - Above Average Rhodes - Average Sheppard - Average So from my count we have: 2 elite players 5 great 8 above average 6 average 1 below average This team simply does not have the talent to be as competitive as many think that it should be. A lot of the players are over-rated and over-hyped by both the media and cs. They played extremely well to start the season as all cylinders were clicking, but as other teams figured out how to beat us (as well as key injuries to Jenkins and Wash) it is just to obvious to see the lack of talent on this team. However, I still remain optimistic because I like Rex and Sanchez, we just need to do a better job of building this team through the draft (see Gholston, DBrick, DRob, Nugg, Justin Miller, and many others) and limit overspending on free agents. If you don't agree with my ranking of the players, then oh well.
