Considering our backups at ILB were Trusnik, Westermann and Izzo I think it's good to have a guy who has been a starter in this league...
 you guys crack me up. of course how stupid of me! I should just turn on madden to see how good he is
He may not have been cut for a talent issue. He signed a 4 year $11.5 million contract in 2007 before losing his starting job. He may very well be a solid backup who just didn't fit in financially. Given the fact that we signed him, rather than claiming his contract, I'd say we likely got him on the cheap. It could be big for us.
I really hope that is the situation. If I recall correctly he was a decent starting LB and that D in general was pretty good 2 years ago when he started. Plus he is still young. I mean I know it's no Bart Scott signing but it's surely better than reading about re-signing Jack Simmons or getting our punter of the week.
He's a bit small at 6'3" 250 to shift outside, but he could be a great fit alongside Westerman as a backup at ILB.
Yeah. I just would have liked to see Izzo or a DB get cut to make room for him rather than the FB we just signed.
Richardson is a pretty healthy player though and he thinks he has a few years left in him so I'm assuming endurance shouldn't be an issue. We can take care of the FB problem when it actually becomes one imho.
Keeping Caulcrick on the PS seems to indicate we think he can take over in the near future as well. Something tells me our active roster will see a few more changes in the coming weeks anyway, and that doesn't just refer to the players released when CP and SE come off suspension.
