Who gives the best pressers? I left Rex out so we can talk assistant coaches. Keep in mind during the Soviet Union era of Parcells, Belicheck, and Mangini assistant coaches were forbidden from even talking to the press!!! http://www.newyorkjets.com/photos-and-videos/index.html Coach Schottenheimer- Definition of Teflon. Always blames 'game situations' for dictating his offensive calls. Seems to be guarded with his replies to the media. Coach Pettine- Unemotional, calls it simple as he sees it. Easy to believe what he says. Seems like he could be a hard-ass to play for. Coach Westhoff- NEVER afraid to call it like it is, good bad or ugly. Gives honest coach-level insight to what Special Teams means. Ends up being quite entertaining, despite his back-and-forth weave.
A brief recap of New York Jets head coach pressers for the past 30 or so years: Walt Michaels: "We have to play better." Joe Walton: "We have to play better." Bruce Coslet: "We have to play better. Horse%$#&@ coaching." Pete Carroll: "We have to play better." Rich Kotite: "We have to play better. Where's is the field?" Bill Parcells: "We have to play better. Stick this in your _____." Al Groh: "We have to play better." Herman Edwards: "We have to play better. You play to win the game!" Eric Mangini: "We have to play better. You want ziti or spaghetti Tony?" Rex Ryan: "We have to play better. Shut the F____ up!" Do I sense a pattern?
Sums up the head coache pressers pretty well....just thank god your last coach entry is 'rex ryan' and not 'brian schottenheimer'. far as assistant coach pressers go, pettine sounds like someone who could get hired as a HC way before golden boy shotty
