Well, it's time to evaluate our HC situation. I can't believe it's actually come to this, but who should be the next HC of the NYJ?
Write a blank check to Sean Payton. But; if not, I would suggest getting someone from the 49ers (or really any consistent winner's) staff.
In another thread, I mentioned Jay Gruden, Ray Horton, Greg Roman and Darrell Bevell as four future NFL head coaches. The Jets should consider interviewing them if/when they fire Ryan. Of course, Tannenbaum has to be fired first so that the new GM can select the next head coach.
Rex Ryan , We need to bring Norv Turner in to coach the offense. Turner has always been a great OC with creditability he just isn't a good head coach he hasn't had any success as head coach but as a OC he is one of the best
Give Sean Peyton any amount of money he wants... Let him draft his future QB and bring in the talent he wants.
Murrell2878- McCoy and Fewell are good choices too. I have Fewell at #5 on my list. I rank the four on my list in this order 1. Horton 2. Jay Gruden 3. Roman 4. Bevell Which ones could handle the NY media and similar pressures? Well, that can be hopefully be determined during interviews. Jon Gruden and Bill Cowher are good candidates too. Have they lost some of their fire? They probably have.
What about Kyle Shannahan? What he's done with RG3 and a true no-name running back is pretty god damn impressive. The Skins are a playoff team if their defense didn't blow ludicrous amounts of dick
I know it is scary, but it may be the best route to take. No Super Bowl-winning head coach ever went on to later direct another franchise to a Super Bowl victory. Mike Holmgren and Bill Parcells came close. I think what happens is these guys lose some of their fire. If we eliminate these sorts of retreads, then that means no to Jon Gruden, Billick and Cowher. As for available non-SB winning head coaches, Hue Jackson is the only one who I think could be good. I don't like any other retread candidates.
The man has won 4 playoff games and has not had a losing season yet, as Jets Head Coach. I don't know when the Jets turned into the Steelers, but that is a pretty good first four years in THIS FRANCHISE. Year four his team had it's least talent yet and the talent it had, GOT INJURED! Rex has earned Year 5 no matter what, I feel. Change things around him (Tannenbaum, Sparano) but give him a shot to fix it.
What has he done? He has one of the brightest QB prospects in years and while the RB is no-name he is totally legit. So what has he done exactly besides coach young up and coming players? Ryan besides talk too much hasn't done a poor job. He is a good coach with a subpar roster. Who would really want to come here anyway? We are turning into the Cowboys, no established coach will want to come here so it will always be a crap shoot with coordinators only as real candidates.
How many SB winning HC have had the opportunity? I don't think because it hasn't happened lends any credibility that it can't happen or is any less likely that it may happen.
The Jets have gone with a defensive minded head coach for a long stretch now. Parcells, Groh, Edwards, Mangini, Rex. Even though the last two O minded guys - Kotite and Coslet were pretty shitty, with the way that the game has evolved I wouldn't mind getting a HC who understands offense for a change. Give Sean Payton anything he wants.
Stram, McCafferty, Flores, Ditka, Parcells, Seifert, Johnson, Holmgren, Shanahan, and Vermeil have had the opportunity. My point is not that it can't happen. My point is that retreads who already won big likely do not have the fire they once had. Does that type of coach even want to come to this circus atmosphere? Parcells tried it but he is from NJ and the Jets had a different owner at the time.
i want rex to stay but the GM is a different story. and i am not so sure a new GM would bring in a new HC right away. i am sure rex could talk him into staying/
