I think most teams will have a crack early. As great as he is, he is still getting on and those hits hurt more than when he was 20.
If the Pats injured Farve on a cheap-shot play, would there be enough security in the entire stadium to ensure Bellicheck could escape with his life?
I am 100% sure Belicheat and Cheatriots will do anything in their power to injure Favre, because they are dirty, cheating team to boot.
Funny, How many times have they driven Chad through the turf and never get called. Yet we always get called for that shit. I'm thinking the league wll protect Cassel only for the Patsie love. Otherwise, I'd love to see Bartons infamous shot to the fukin head.
This is something that I worried about as well. Given the circumstances, it's disturbing, but remains a possibility that the Pats will try to "even the odds" by putting extra effort into pounding Brett. On the plus side, this should open up some possibilities in the passing game. Pass protection has to be TIGHT.
I think the O-Line needs to do their utmost to protect Brett... you'd think they'd be blitzing a little more than usual which would open up passing options. If the O-Line holds, it could work to our favour.
I'm thinking..this is Bellishit's first appearance in front of a Jets crowd since spygate anyway. That in itself may make for some fireworks.
I may be naive, but I don't think so. I've observed that Favre is not just another opposition quarterback to many players. You gotta remember that there's no one else from class 1991 still playing the game (except I think one kicker?) and most of these players literally grew up watching him. I think whoever ends his streak will probably feel bad about it, not good. They'll hit him good, but try to knock him out for the season? Even Warren Sapp, he laid one of the meanest, most uncalled for hits of the history of the game on Chad Clifton, I think had a line he would not cross for Favre.
Also, don't forget that that Favre is an icon of the game. The refs will protect him the way they protect Payton M and TB. Expect quick whistles. It's bad for the game (and the bottom line) to lose the superstars, and the refs hear that from the commissioner's office.
Just protect Brett with quick pass plays and Brett should be fine.. Once the Patsies realize he is picking them apart they will have to back off the blitz.
I don't think so. Belichik is the first great coach in a long time whose NFL career is hanging by a thread. He's gotten a lot of byes on other things that would have ended lesser careers, both from the NFL, the media and his owner. If a cheap shot ended Favre's career (because that's what we're talking about) I think the investigation would run deep and Belichik would be scrambling for his coaching life. It's possible, although very unlikely gven Favre's lack of an injury history, that Favre will go out against the Pats but if it looks like a cheap shot there will be consequences.
^^ I hope you are right and that this will deter any attempts. Definitely something to be concerned about though.
One of the many things that Favre brings to the team that we didn't have with Chad is that refs will be much more inclined to call roughing the passer.
