It takes a while for these offensive lineman to develop, he's no tony mandarich though, we can all agree on that. He's been average this year, I expect him to be a little better next season and to start coming into his prime after that.
He's a rookie. I'm very excited about his athleticism, but you can't let Aaron Schobel beat up on you. Schobel is a high effort, slightly above average athlete. -X-
He's a rookie. We all expected ups and downs this season. But really, He had one real bad noticeable game this whole season, and I think that's pretty good since he is a rook playing the hardest position in the OL. The fact is, did we see Pennington get injured yet because of a hard blind-side hit? Not yet. Sure he's been hit but nothing drastic. He'll be a very solid LT for years to come. And I still say he was the right choice at the #4
Wow, and I got chewed out when I said this in the Draft... I will say it again. Ferg is an Excellent pick but using a #4 on an O-Lineman who is a "Project" is not worth it. Project=an Incomplete player. (Weight Changes, Lacks Run or Pass skills etc....) If He can gain some mass and Become a Stopper/Roadgrader at that position, it may all be worth it in the long run but I just hope that Gaining Mass doesn't kill his performance cause we've seen it happen many times. I think he has made strides and has played Solid for a Rookie but he doesn't look like a #4 pick right now. Maybe , Hopefully he will become the LT we all hope for. :beer:

For every Marcus McNeil, there's a Andrew Whitworth on the Bengals. He looked like a big time rookie yesterday vs. the Colts. Brick is/will be a good one.
I believe that Brick is already a very good LT by comparison to all LTs in the league. He is certainly above average and has handled some more acclaimed DEs than Schobel. really, Aaron Schobel is the only guy that has really given Brick trouble all game and made him look like a rookie. Remember, Brick is young anf certainly still developing. As soon as his metabolism slows down he will certainly be able to put on more mass. Obviously, he has not been as good as Mangold, but Mangold also is not out there by himself against guys as fast and athletic as the ones Brick faces.
Somebody already did immediately following the BILLS debacle.... I would look for it but unlike some do not have that much time..
Nothing an offseason training program won't cure. He is a rookie playing one of the most difficult positions on offense. So I am not too concerned, except for one game he is playing well. Hell he played very well against the Vikings front seven. Also getting more help along the line will help. A new RT and an OG will certainly help in the run game and take some pressure off.
How many players in a given draft come out flawless? Mario was athletic, but raw, Leinart had no arm, Vince was stupid, Reggie couldn't take the carries, Brick was too small, Hawk was pretty close to can't miss, etc.
Personally disappointed with Ferguson. Living in San Diego watching Marcus McNeil, also a rookie at LT, i ask myself who would i rather have? and McNeil was a 2nd round pick. His run blocking for LT has been impeccable and pass protection good as well.
