Now, I've been rather pessimistic as of late but there is one thing I want to discuss... something that I THINK benefits the Jets... Which is more of a trap game? The Jets at Seattle... or the Dolphins at Kansas City? Here's the thing... everyone is expecting that if an upset is going to happen... it's going to be over the Jets. Everyone is also generally respecting Miami as a force, and while they deserve to be respected with the season they are having... there are still two facts that everyone is ignoring... 1) we beat Miami already, 2) Miami is trying to catch US... not the other way around... So, with that said, I have to wonder... is it really the Jets who might end up looking ahead? Or could it be Miami, since the NFL media pretty much has it set in stone that Miami's season only has 1 game left, and that is in week 17. :finssuck: EDIT: For the cynics, everyone means anyone who disagrees with me.
Kansas City... Thigpen is actually scaring teams. But the Jets are on the west coast, so its almost either or.
I consider trap games between weeks 6-15. From now on, you prepare to get these final wins each week.
Probably Kansas City, since we've been getting our ass kicked by most of the sub-.500 teams we've played.
actually it doesnt really matter. The question is which is a bigger trap game Pats at Cards or Jets at Hawks, or Phins at Chiefs. If the Pats win out, then it doesnt matter which team goes 10-6, they are screwed. If I am the Jets/Phins i am rooting hard for Arizona, and against B-more this week. If the pats lose then this weeks games for the Jets/fish is still irrelevant, same as if all three teams won. if the fins lose this week and win next week, they win the division (supposing NE loses) if we lose this week, and win next week (again with a NE loss) we win the division. Actually the pats only realy chance to make the playoffs is if both the Jets and Fins lose a game, while they win out. so heres to rooting for the Cards because then the Pats are toast. then all that matters is beating the fins. Would I like to win out? damn straight, but I would prefer to win the division no matter how it needs to happen.
Just win the next game and forget about trap. With the amount of all stars the Jets have they should win out.
What kind of a shot do you guys give the Cards this week in Foxboro? A better shot than the Bills have next week?
i think the Bills will give a better fight. Arizona has locked up the division and the bills have to be dying to win atleast 1 more game before seasons end.
everyone on board posts are focused on the miami game...to be honest we need to be focused on the game this weekend vs seattle!...miami will handle kansas city...we need to beat a seattle team which basically should have beaten the pats a few weeks ago..we are 0-3 on the west coast, we play at 4...those are 2 bad signs...holmgrens last home game as coach...seneca wallace can run...if we let matt cassel run for 60 yds and losman run for td's...seneca wallace will easily run for 90 yds..i dont want to be a downer but i dont see us beating seattle this weekend.. jets 13 seattle 24
Pats are in if the ravens lose at the cowboys this saturday .. Plus they win out .. They won't get the div, but they'll be in like swimwear .
kc all the way... people are aware of the fact the jets could lose to sea which takes the trap out of it... everyone in miami is looking at the jets....therefore the trap is set
There are no trap games at this point. It's time to execute and play for 60 minutes. The teams that do that are not just going to the playoffs, they may do damage in the playoffs.
"Trap Games" are reserved for teams that are playing extremely well. Because we're not one of them, we have no business even thinking a game could be a "trap game." We just need to go out and play good football with no mistakes. No INTs, no penalties, no mistackles, no ST fake punts, etc. Seattle is a wounded animal with nothing to lose. There is no trap. This game is ours to lose if we don't execute well.
1) First game of the season and very close...2 completely different teams now = good reason to ignore it 2) We are tied, they are not trying to catch us - they win out, they win the division I think the fact that we are 0-3 on the west coast is an advantage right now because it forces us to really focus on SEA and not look ahead to MIA by any means. KC will give MIA a run, no doubt.
Bill Parcells is down in Miami...they don't have any trap games. Bottom line, if we lose this week, we don't belong in the playoffs.
One factor that points in favor of the Jets is, everytime Chad Pennington and Herm Edwards stand on the same turf, Chad Pennington gets hurt.
This is just from me, but I can't read about trap anything again. Any of the times we were caught this year is because the Jets doled out a crap game in multiple phases of the game; it had nothing to do with trap.
