Place it anywhere in this list:

    -winning Super Bowl 3
    -appearing in 1982 AFC Championship
-2 quarters from the Super Bowl in 1998
-Beating the Pats in Gillette Stadium in 06
-Beating the Chargers in 04 Wild Card Game
-Crushing Colts 41-0 in 02 Wild Card Game
-John Hall 53 yd field goal against OAK to clinch playoff berth

Is that your order? Beating the Patriots is higher than the Colts/Chargers playoff wins?

It's hard to rank the signing of a player over any significant wins in my mind. If he ends up leading us to a superbowl win I could do it, but not yet.

Agreed - no way this compares yet to a playoff (or playoff clinching) win.

As far as player moves goes this is one of the worst is Jets history. Right behind drafting Ken O'Brien over Dan Marino, and Parcells refusal to guarantee Peyton Manning he'd be the #1 pick, helping Peyton decide to stay in college for another year.

    Neil O'Donnell for 25 million?

    Johnny "Lam" Jones??

    Blair Thomas???

Saying this is one of the worst moves in Jets history is just silly, as is immediately regarding it as one of the best moves. Just a fun night so far, that's all.

You can't honestly believe that? I don't know how this is going to end but this was a move the Jets had to make. At worst they gave up a 1st round pick but that means we're playing in the Super Bowl. That can't be a bad thing. With all the money they spent they needed to add a QB. There was absolutely nobody of value that was going to be available and Pennington has taken this team as far as he possibly could. Clemmons is not ready and maybe never will be. This is a team built to win this year and they went out and got the QB that has the potential to win now.

I look at this this way:
Where do Kansas City Chiefs fans rate signing Joe Montana on "Greatest Moments in KC Chief History?" It's about the same deal. Favre was a great QB, obviously better than what the Jets had, but you got to wonder how good he will be at age 39-40.

This is huge. Tomorrow, this will be on the front page of every newspaper across the nation. The Brett sweepstakes was a huge story!

Now, maybe Lebron will come to the Knicks :p

Since you don't know your history, you Pats fan troll dipshit, Montana took that Chiefs team to the AFC Tittle game and lost. They also won the division.

    You Lose.

From a historical perspective re: Jets history

This has to be the 3rd biggest moment in Jets history...is our history that sad!? Anyway for discussion

    1 - Super Bowl III
    2 - Drafting Joe Namath
3 - Trading for Brett Favre

Of course you can put things in like winning the AFL Title, but I include that with SB III. Maybe getting Parcells goes in at #3 because he turned our franchise around.

    Discuss.

This deal reminds me of how I felt when the Rangers obtained Mark Messier.

...and just below getting Boomer Esiason.

The NFL is not a Fantasy League or a video game, as many here seem to think.

I am not happy about this and am just hoping I am really wrong

(Save yourselves the witty retort "don't worry, you are wrong", because no one knows that until the games are played)
