    Mark Sanchez, Jets

The Jets' season is split right in half, with eight games before the bye and eight games after it. This sets up well for the new face of the franchise. The Jets will have played all three of their AFC East foes at least once during the first half of the season, leaving no opposing defensive coordinator in the division with two shots at Sanchez. The rookie then would make his debut at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who went 3-5 on the road last season.

Sweet, I didn't even realize we have a mid-season bye.

Seems reasonable, but I am guessing if Sanchez shows anything in TC, he will be the starter.

that's a great idea. If Sanchez and Clemens are even at the end of TC, have Sanchez start the second half of the season. Unless Clemens is having a pro bowl season, but him pulling a derek anderson is going to be extremely low odds.

why waite until the season in already in the shitter to get him experience.

Kellen has been given three seasons and eight starts to at least show a spark, but he didn't. Start Sanchez from day one and let him learn under center not behind a never was.

Even if he doesn't play great is means nothing. Aikman, Peyton and many more had bad 1st years and started from day one.

There's no reason not to start Sanchez right away.

We have a defense that can win us games, a running game built to pound other teams into the ground, and one of the best kick returners in the league. Sanchez wouldn't have to make crazy throws. Mangini won't be here to call stupid fucking plays like last year with Favre. He should be the starter in Houston Week 1.

    Our first 5 games are:

    Houston Texans
    New England Patriots
    Tennesse
    New Orleans
    Miami (on Monday Night)

All these are pretty tough matches so I'd prefer Clemens to start
    After that we have

    Buffalo
    Oakland
    Miami
    (BYE)
    Jacksonville

These matches seem easier and if Sanchez has to start somewhere along the season I think this would be the right time.

So all in all I'm going to say that if Clemens doesn?t perform the way we want I want Sanchez to start on week 6 against Buffalo...

If Clemens starts the season it's because he had a great camp. Don't count your chickens on that one, because those eggs haven't hatched for three years running. Sanchez would have to have a poor camp for him to lose the job by default. If he looks like he has a clue he's going to get the ball.

i think clemens will end up starting the start of the season. he will probably have an average camp and sanchez will struggle a little bit.

i just hope if sanchez does start right away and doesnt do to good people will start bashing him right away and never forgive him. we just have to remember that he is only a rookie and like was mentioned before even some of the greats didnt do anything till there third season

I can see Clemens having a very solid camp a la Chad Pennington and then getting shelled in the first 4 weeks and losing his job.

How bout playing the best player and keep playing him until he sucks. What is this, Madden 10, I am paying to see the Jets win, not to plan the season around getting a rookie QB in the game. Start him after the bye without even considering where the Jets are at and how clemens is playing. That would be it for me, we already went through last seasons debacle of sacrifcing the team for the QB. What is going on with this shit. If Sanchez looks good he starts, if Clemens looks better he starts. If either fails during the season, then the other plays. No???

Yeah I'm not buying into switching QBs at the bye. There is absolutely no benefit to that in reality. Pick a starter and he's the starter. But one caveat is if it's Sanchez, you better stick with him if he sucks, because passing over Kellen yet again and then asking him to come in after benching the guy that is ultimately his replacement is a really piss poor way of running a team.

In fact, I'll go on record to say that it's by far and away one of the most retarded ideas I've ever heard. Not to mention he's banking on Sanchez starting against a team that went 3-5 on the road....LAST YEAR.

The Jets could be winless at the bye or maybe 2 wins at the most.

That would be a great time to put in Sanchez if he is ready to go . If they start with Clemens and he tanks I think the Jets will still leave him in there until that point. At the mid point of the season either way you will probably see Sanchez in there.

If you believe that, you truly need help.

Are you telling me that Brett Favre is THAT big of a difference? Because we've improved our defense and all we lost was Favre. Coles is not a loss. Coles leaving is a blessing.

The Phins could just as well be winless. You just never know.

And that's the only way it would make sense: if Clemens ends up as the starter and tanks. But changing for the sake of throwing a monkey wrench in opposing game plans, is absurd.

i agree with pretty much everything but i think that last part only works one way. if clemens fails during the season you put sanchez in but i dont know if sanchez fails during the season you pull him. he needs the reps and the experience anyway and if the season is tanked i dont see why you take him out. bc you have to figure if he is starting from the start of the season he already beat out clemens so why take out the person who is the "future" for someone he already beat out when he needs the time anyway.

Yeah, it really isn't complicated. I don't know why some seem to think it is.

Can you imagine Vince Lombardi saying it's all about when you put in a rookie?
