The handwriting is on the wall. With all the cuts we have had (mostly good), all fingers point to us accumulating the most picks we can get our hands on. Fact is, Abe is a goner. Most likely for a late 1st round pick. We will trade down from our 4th pick overall and probably gather in another 2nd round pick. From what i see, we'll have 4 picks in the top 40 players taken. Look at where Mangini is from. This is what NE has been doing for years. Tannenbaum is on the same page as Mangini. These guys have the reigns now and it will be done the way Scott Pioli and co. has been doing it for the past 5 years. Simply put, we just have too many holes to fill. Personally, i love this strategy. The draft is such a god damn crap shoot that you need to have as many quality picks as you can. How anyone sees this differently is beyond me. Is Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush guaranteed to be franchise players? Certainly not. They all have their share of question marks. It's not like when Peyton Manning came out. That's been the only mortal lock that i can recall.
I agree ..if the Jets stay at #4, I want Ferguson, but I prefer to trade down and depending on the pick for Abe, maybe that's the one we trade, we need to accumulate many young players.....
there has been many other "locks" on draft day. Reggie Bush is about as close as it gets. ...and what about Blair Thomas?
