Jones is gonna find out that he's not gonna feel his 1st contact 3-4 yds down the field like he did as a Bear. As a Jets' RB, he's gonna be dodging defenders right from the hand-off....in his own backfield. Not downfield like when with the Bears. Then fans are gonna ask, "Whats the matter with Thomas Jones ?" But the real answer is the weak Jets' O-line...:breakdance: Same ole story. No O-line, no running game. All those bi-ceps ain't gonna get him any extra yards. lol:breakdance:
Horrible post, come on man. Our O-line is improving, and we have a nice change of pace back that TJones didn't have with the Bears. Heck we have the best RB in the AFC East right now, period. Trust Mangini, he hasn't done us wrong yet.
I think I should just avoid any thread that contains "lol, lmao, rofl, etc etc" in the title. They always seem to be disasters. Not gonna lie, when i saw the the thread title on the home page, i thought it was another brilliant inSANITy post.
the line will hold its own. Brick and Mangold have a full year under their belt, and Clement is still serviceable. The guards need to be better, but TJ and L-Wash will do just fine in the back field.
Maybe you should re-look at the video post section that was posted earilier and see we did have some solid gains in the running department. we didnt blow the door's off but we ran effectively . Curtis martin always seem to get blasted about 3-4 yardspast the line of scrimmage and then go sideways after being hit and still rushed for over 1300 yards ; Jones will have about the same production. I will go out on a limb 1400 yards and 12 touch downs! and you can quote me!
1400 rushing yards is REALLY optimistic with our tough schedule. He will get over 1000....but he will stay below 1300. Our oline is not the same level that it used to be, but we have a creative OC to help out some in that department. Still, all the shifts and schemes in the world can't make up for our under average personnel on Oline, but we will find some success running the ball. Hey, when you finish 31st in rushing yards you have practically no where to go but up, right?
he was a little blunt and less analytical then needed but hes right. leon washington was the only person able to avg over 4 YPC behind the line. why? cuz hes small and quick. and runs harder than people give him credit for. all these people talk as if jones will solve everything. he will make us more effective than barlow getting raped at the LOS. but that should be expected. but yeah jones blocking in CHI was way better they had OL getting next level blocks so jones with his speed was able to not get hit till he had already gained at least 2 or 3 yards. either way lets just hope this fixes itself due to another year in the system. that being said, im not sold on brick yet and the only surefire quality player on it is Mangold.
This is not an incidental concept at the moment. We should give Mangini, Shottenheimer and Wise the opportunity to prove the status quo wrong, since the Jets surprised last season, however right now my expectation is Thomas Jones gets 3.5 yards a carry next year and we're struggling in the run game again. The only kind of back that is likely to have success in the Jets current scheme is an evasive elusive scatback who likes the edges. That would be Leon Washington and thankfully we have him.
No matter how many times I see 'Run_N_gun10' and '' on a thread, I still can't help but click the thread. It's like watching someone slowly crush a toad with their boot, you don't really want to watch it, but you just have to see what color goo squishes out.
All Jones has to be is a workhorse for us. If he can average 4 yards a carry(very doable) that will at least keep the defense honest to allow for creative pass plays downfield and obviously Washington's home run threats.I'd like to see an upgrade of run blocking on the OL...but I think we can at least keep defense's honest w/ the combo of Jones/ Washington
Put me down for not very comfortable with our O-line as of now...especially our run blocking. The best thing anyone can say is that Mangold and Brick have a year of experience now...OOOOOOOOH, big fricken deal...they sucked last year, and right now we have the same personnel, with a possible downgrade at left guard. Anyone that can say things are looking up for the O-line needs to stop going over to RobA's house for Kool Aid and Kookies.
I concur, although "they sucked last year" is a bit harsh. If you meant the line as a whole wasn't good at run blocking, which I think you do, I agree.
Look at what happened to Lamont Jordan in Oakland and Curtis Martin once the Jets line degraded and you're seeing Thomas Jones future with the Jets if they do not figure out something on the o-line. Workhorses only get 4+ yards per carry behind good offensive lines.
