With just a week before training camp....after looking over Jets' roster, which positions would u like to see the Jets have more depth ? For me, I would like to see more depth in OL, DL, & a WR.
The depth of the 2009 Jets is very scary. A few key injuries and we are in for a long year. We were lucky last year with hardly a significant injury. Secondary and RB, IMO, are the only strong depth positions. Need depth at ......OT, DE, NT, TE, WR.
Well, top of the list is WR. Forget about depth, before you have can have depth, you actually have to have strength. It was borderline as it was last year, and now with Coles gone (something I'm happy about for the long run, but still for this year ...) it's looking really poorly. Offensive tackle is the other most serious question mark. Tight End might have been an issue, but is possibly improved with signing Owens (not sure). Then there's punter ... The only places that I actually feel comfortable with are linebacker, and running back, assuming both Leon and TJ get their contract issues resolved. I'll allow others to be the typo police.
I could be wrong here. But Positios are sort of like Tostitos. Only, Tostitos are made out of corn, whereas Positios are made of potato. Right?
Depth? The Jets do not even have Surface at wideout. I'd obviously start there. Someone said depth only at RB and DB. You could say Qb if you mean the Jets seem to have a backup, but the real question is whether either Sanchez or Clemens will be effective starters. Yeah, not much depth overall, but they need help at wideout more than anywhere. BY FAR.
Thank you. Why the fuck are people talking about depth at WR? We have good depth at WR, we need a starter. You know where we need depth? Defensive line. We need depth, we need future starters, that unit is NOT in a good place age-wise. Of course we need depth at TE - We have one TE, and he's a receiving TE. We need ILB depth, unless you count Trusnik being rotated inside from the OLB spot as ILB depth. We have no backup center. We have backup tackles, though.
Woody can play C in the unlikely emergency event that Nick goes down. We shouldn't move up in next years draft I don't think...
How's Alge Crumpler's health these days? He's probably going to drop down to 3rd string in Tenn with Scaife and Cook on the roster.
I consider depth to be someone who sits the bench but can come in when needed due to injuries, suspensions (thanks Calvin!), or just to spell someone during a game. In that case, the O line's depth is scary. We've got no experience beyond the starting five really. Everyone should pray for health on the Oline.
