What if we get Spags, then we go less than 8-8...fail to make playoffs, and we have a bunch of talent walk.

    Then what?

Everyone is wanting him, however we need someone proven that can win NOW. This team is build for now, not for "in a few years"

The answer is spags gets canned. And thats part of the problem. The Jets don't have any patience to let Coaches get their systems in place and develop as a Head Coach. If you go out and hire an untested Assistant Coach - don't be freaking surprised when he makes mistakes. Mangini made mistakes - is there some reason why Woody was surprised by that? He is thirty Freaking seven years old !!!! You have to show some loyalty and stick with your people.

F Woody for being such a tool and responding irrationally to the Steve Serby types who demand that young coaches get fired even though they won 9 games. If you want to build a winning organization you don't do that by firing your HC every 3-4 years. Thats what losers do and thats what Woody is until he grows a set and backs up his HC.

Y'know, I believed in the Favre trade in the beginning, even though I liked Chad. Now I am just embarrased to be considered a Jets fan. I liked Mangini even though I think he could have done bette (but who doesn't). I am just so frustrated that Woody showed his poker hand and now we have nothing to show.

What makes it worse is everyone that thinks that "a coach" can fix all of this.

Depends on why we go 8-8. If we go 8-8 because of injuries, etc, then it's clearly not the coaches fault. If we fail to make the playoffs because of obvious coaching errors and a disinterested team, then I'd have no problem having the guy canned.

That no longer may be the case - with Favre , we have a QB that is pretty much on the downside - and no other that looks to able step in and take the controls. Without a quality
QB, the team is rudderless. Right now, this is the team's top priority - and one a new coach is not exited about taking on.

It would be a good guess that any new coach coming in would want to be able to have the most important position filled by either the time he comes on or, be able to pick from what's available.

Problem with the Jet's - not having a good PROVEN young QB is a hard sell to potential head coaches.
