This is f@%kin pathetic. The same folks that were ecstatic about getting #31 from the Seahawks for Abe are crying about getting #29. The same folks ready to jump off a cliff if we coughed up Abe to Atlanta for a 2nd rounder, are bitching at this move. Some of you calling it the biggest mistake ever made... why did we do this... is anyone else disgusted? How about looking at it as a balls to the wall, stand your ground move by the front office?

Please.... make up your minds. It's embarrasing.

Getting the 29th pick for John Abe is an incredible move considering that teams rarely can get 1st round picks when they trade a player. Especially considering that Atlanta had to give the bank as well.

I'm with you guys, the guy didn't want to be here, he wanted things his at the expense of the Jets. So I say good riddance, he can be replaced.

i like the pick that we received. sure i would have liked to get the 15 that denver got but not for 2 mid round picks. this will be a good draft that alot of holes can be filled with.

sure some may not pan out, but abe hadnt panned out at this point at all so its really a no lose situation. either get 29 for him or wait till next year and get nothing (i think).

We Jet fans always have to be a little upset about something. It's just part of the deal.

I'm very happy with our two #1 picks. We can use these babies for great things. We might not be done with the #29 pick. Maybe we can trade down even more? In any case the Jets are in a great possition.

C'mon Miami Jet. Jets fans are never, ever completely happy about anything (except, strangely enough, Eric Mangini.) Many of the same fans who were saying that Abraham should have been cut after the AFC Championship game are the ones saying that the Jets screwed up big time. It's just the way we operate.

Not easily...it will take time before we have a legit pass rusher like him again....

Stop the Bogus J-ABE did not want to be here stuff

We just traded a top five defensive end who can take over games for a draft pick that will be wasted on a scrub who will never play. Hey, maybe we should use the pick on a kicker to take over for Nugent. All this crap about "We got what we could, he didn't want to be here" is so lame. You think J-abe wouldn't have been more than happy to play here if we offered him a long term deal? Our pass rush was anemic with him, imagine how bad it will be without him? Oh wait,we have Bryan Thomas and his 1 sack a year and Ellis who we gave the long term deal to over Abraham who had a terrific season last year. Do you guys realize that J-abe had 10 1/2 sacks last year even though teams were running on us every down? Also, not to mention J-abe is very good against the run. Our season next year is over if we do not draft Mario williams. If you have no pass rush, I do not care if you have 3 all pro linebackers along with 4 all pro defensive backs.

We're not going to be too concerned with generating a pass-rush from the defensive line, so if we do have a bunch of All-Pro linebackers, in this system, it will be great.

He wanted to get paid, the Jets didn't want to pay him, for that reason he didn't want to play with the Jets, so they got a first rounder for him. That simple.

Well when one looks @ the whole story, I can't say that I'm upset. Of course I would have prefered the 15th but considering that the best offer was the 31st pick we came out winning.

What i don't under stand is why did ATL go through all this trouble its almost as if they didn't want to trade us the 15 just on principal...what they got from Denver (a 3rd and 4th rounder I believe combined with the pick they traded to the jets) didn't seem to be as good in value. I dunno...all that matters is all we traded was a player who didn't want to be here for a pick

I'll let others argue with your opinion of Abraham, but you have one conspicuous fact wrong - the Jets did not give a long term deal to Ellis over Abraham - they offered Abraham the exact same deal and he turned it down.

The good news is that all of these Abraham threads will die forever soon...

I hear you. But J-abe is still right. He is a much better player than Ellis and deserves more. If you argue that he is injury prone I would rather have J-abe in 12 games than ellis in 16.

Although all of the extremes you mention are apparent on the board, I don't agree that it's the same people saying two different things. I think the people who are unhappy now were never happy with the #31 pick either, and the people who are happy now were never demanding much more than this.

exactly...if he really wanted to be here he would have taken the very good offer on the table which Ellis who wanted to be here took. He did not want to be here for less than top 5 DE money...Abe isn't a top 5 DE, Peppers, Freeny, Strahan, Umenyiora, and Rice. I'd take any of those guys before Abe, based on the money he wanted, his run D abilities, our changes to the Main based D and his propensity for injury it didn't and doesn't make sense to keep him. So even if I entertained the arguement that he did want to be here, it doesn't make sense to keep him here

What makes you think that whoever we draft with the 29th pick will be a scrub who will never play? More than likely, whoever it is, will probably be starting.

People continue to compare last year's draft to this years. Two different GM's, and I can assure you, this one knows what he's doing.
