Studs Zach - yup he earned a stud. the 1st Q was bad but Q2-4 he played very well and almost brought us back to win it. may have if we didn't get screwed by the refs. He looked like a real QB and made some good throws and his stat line wasn't bad either. he outplayed mahomes in primetime O-line - did a good job protecting zach for sure. moving becton to LT and AVT to RT and playing tippman at OG really did wonders for the o-line as a whole. GW/Lazard - both had some big catches in the game. Lazard got screwed out of one too on a penalty. Pass Defense - held mahomes to only 203 yards and barely over 50% completions. also picked him off twice and dropped a 3rd (mosley) only allowed 6 points while scoring 2 points after the 1st Breece - did wonders with his touches. didn't get a lot of them but averaged 9.3 YPC and led the offense with 69 yards Hackett - called a great game. even in the 1st when the offense wasn't moving zach had clean pockets and open WRs. IDK what clocked for zach after the 1st but he looked like a real QB and I have to think hackett had something to do with it. most importantly though he let zach sling it and put him in good positions to win Morestead - 5 punts and dropped 4 inside the 20. he was money as usual Mosley/Quincy - Lbers were supposed to be a meh group for us but they are playing like a top group. mosley had 1 INt and dropped a 2nd one. quincy was all over the place with 13 tackles (10 solo) and some nice pass breakups. Duds Refs - seriously we could have came back and the refs made sure we didn't. way too many late BS penalties to extend drives for the chiefs. Cook - is really washed. was a waste of 8mil. can't wait for izzy to come back. cook should be benched Greg the leg - missed a FG in a game where we lost by 3. wasn't even that long of an attempt.
I agree with everything you said, other than the extra comment on Zuerlein - a 52-yard FG attempt certainly doesn't qualify as "wasn't even that long of an attempt."
Agreed overall Refs REALLY helped the Chiefs and yeah, man, Cook looks totally washed up … every play with him is straight into blockers for 2-3 yards or a loss. He’s shown absolutely nothing so far, and at this point, I’d much rather see MC and Izzy get a shot
Isn't Cook on some weird contract where its only guaranteed like week to week? If so, dude is going to be gone soon. Feels like he's just a placeholder until Hall can get his snap count up. He's been garbage
overall great list - once def got their heads out of their ass, they did a really nice job. ofc ZW was lights out...hoping this fire continues into denver
Dalvin Cock has to go. Let's see Izzy and maybe some 2021 MC. Ruckert is TE2, with TE1 in sight. Top blocker. Promising as a receiver. The new OL. They started gelling vs NE. They were phenomonal. Zach has always been good with a clean pocket. Bryce Huff might be our best DE. What a find JD. Quincy. Kudos for getting paid AND THEN raising your game. He ain't no Mo Wilkerson. Jefferson was on fire! Garrett Wilson might wind up the best WR we've ever had. And if we continue getting the good pass protection and they keep calling aggressive play calls, we might find that Zach is the best QB we've ever had too. For now, enjoying a game that showed his potential ... and more important his trajectory, post MLF, and with new experienced coaching.
I'd add: Studs Huff/Quinnen were the key to shutting down their passing game. Mahomes looked terrible from the safety on, mostly due to them. Ashton Davis wasn't in the game much. But his int was huge. Duds Becton's - he is still a liability. The rest of the line wasn't a stud or dud, but I guess not being a total train wreck... Sauce - his holding cost us big time. Saleh - is not a good coach. Run defense - gave up 200+ yards, including a 60 yard TD run to Pacheco. The refs are always duds in some way. But they weren't as bad as people are saying. Yes they missed a huge call. But we had less penalty yards than KC and we did get a questionable safety to turn the game around.
yeah huff didn't put up any stats really but he was a menace to their o-line all game and drew the safety on the penalty. he was held a lot too. had the refs not been so awful he might have been allowed to get some sacks davis is always good for that. he's a great centerfielder and reading the QB. he just can't tackle for shit and takes awful angles on tackling. sauce's holding was a BS call. they were handfighting. should have never been flagged. run D was bad. seems like we sold out to stop mahomes but let pacheco have his way
Good analysis, but I disagree that the OL were studs. They were better than they've been but that's really not saying much. And they seem to be improving so that's good, but they still let in a lot of pressure last night even though Zach was consistently getting the ball out quick for a change. And I wouldn't label Sauce a dud. That call was bogus, especially in light of all the non-calls the Refs made in the Chief's favor. In fact, Mahomes didn't even try to throw in Sauce's direction up until that point. Other than those points, I agree with your assessment.
Not only that, did we forget Mahomes easily scores at the end of the game? That missed FG became somewhat insignificant.
Corrected it for you. Cooked is cooked. It's time to deactivate him and see what Izzy can do. It was worth a shot, but the Cook experiment is now over, it's been a 1/4 of a season almost and it's time to see what Izzy can do.
breece averaged over 9 YPC and zach regularly had over 2.5 seconds to throw and a lot of clean pockets. hard to not give the o-line credit. tippman hasn't allowed a single pressure in 2 games apparently (according to PFF) and has looked great. we did let up a couple of pressure but as long as you can keep the percentage under 15% it's a good game not sure what the actual number is but from watching zach routinely had plenty of time to throw from a clean pocket I didn't put sauce as a dud so not sure what you mean there
Mcdonald is a dud, Chiefs took advantage of him every down he played Amos is a dud, he took a horrible angle on one of Pacheco's long runs that was a killer. I think he was even benched after that
On duds, I'd have to add Whitehead. Just an abysmal game full of missed tackles. I don't know if he has some sort of arm/shoulder injury, or what, but his film in this game is going to be very ugly. As for the O-Line, in general, and appreciating we are talking a low bar, it is performed much better since Duane Brown hasn't been a part of it.
