Here are the slate of games for the week. Denver and Oakland have tough matchups. Cincinnati and Tennessee should have easy wins.
We really can't rely on anyone else from here on out. We need to take care of business and beat the Eagles. No excuses. No hoping for other teams to lose - that happened this week.
Sure, but it doesn't mean we as fans can't scoreboard watch. Jets can make it with 10-6 if all the teams below them lose one more game which I have confidence can happen. The only one I'd be worried about is Tennessee with their painfully easy schedule (Houston is a big question mark right now). 11-5 would obviously be the easiest way to get there.
I agree, we really don't need to focus on this much anymore. Especially when the matchups seem to be so clear cut. With Denver I've learned to not count them out until it's over, and they might match up well with the Pats, but they're still going to lose. Probably the next week that might actually legitimately help us outside of us winning is week 17 anyway (Cin/Bal and Ten/Hou). Denver and Oakland really aren't too much of concern anymore. Not trying to dump on the thread, just giving my opinion.
hopefully we got our hiccup games over and done with at Denver and Oakland and come out and beat the Eagles like we all we should.
We have the tiebreaker against Cincy if we win at Miami, not if we lose at Miami. And we don't have any situation with a successful tiebreaker against the Titans, I believe.
Houston is in a major battle for home field advantagae and currently hold the top spot. They have very winnable games the next 2 weeks vs Carolina and Indy. That means with 1 game left they will have a win-and-clinch homefield throughout playoffs scenario vs Tenn (in Houston). I love their chances to win that game. Long story short, don't see Tenn winning out.
According to ESPN's playoff machine thing, then yes. The Jets would still get in. EDIT: Actually, if I mess around with it a bit, it looks like depending on other matchups the strength of victory thing may mess with it. If the Jets beat the Giants and lose to Philly, they'd have a much better chance of taking the tie-breaker over Cincinnati than if they beat Philly and lose to the Giants.
This game is scary. I can see the Jets losing this one. Hopefully they will be ready to defend the edges cause Filthydelphia has the speed to beat us on the outside.
Look, Here's your ideal scenario. Jets Win out, get the 6. NE gets the one seed, Houston the 3. Wild Card Weekend, Pitt @Denver Jets @ Houston. Divisional Weekend Pitt @ Balt Jets @NE. AFCCG Jets @ Beat up team from the week before. Jets go to Indy. But..Lets just get to 11-5.
Im confident the Jets can beat the Texans but if we had to play the Ravens on the road in the divisional round that would be a slaughter house.
I think the main thing is hold them to FGs because McCoy is going to get his yards and Vick will break some runs but the Eagles defense is really bad. We should be able to run on them and beat them with screens all day.
It would go to SOS if we beat the Dolphins and the Bengals beat the Ravens. The Bengals SOS is very weak, so even with a win against Baltimore, it looks like we would hold the tie breaker.
Jets can't win a 10-6 tiebreaker with Tennessee. That's a given, a lock and a fact. The key game for Tennessee in a tiebreaker scenario vs. the Jets is their Jacksonville game. Titans need to win out to get to 10-6. If they win the Jax game they clinch the tiebreaker vs. the Jets based on common opponents. 4-1 vs. BUF, DEN, JAX, BAL while Jets were 3-2 vs. those teams. They lose that game then it's down to a 9-7 tiebreaker which the Jets can win. Jets can win a 9-7 tiebreaker vs. TEN based only on strength of victory which is the #3 tiebreaker. Winning that tiebreaker scenario can only happen if the Jets beat the Fish and the Titans lose to the Jags. All other 9-7 tiebreaker scenarios go to the Titans.
IMO, if the Jets win out, plus a wild card win (total of seven straight), although I wouldn't favor the Jets, I think it would be a much more even game then the regular season game (without Mangold).
I don't want to be a downer... but are you all really that excited for the Jets to get to the SB and get absolutely destroyed by Green Bay? I would rather get to the SB with a chance to actually win it. ...not that I won't do cartwheels if the Jets won the AFC championship.
We can beat NE,Houston on the road. That's the most accessible road to the AFCCG. If you wind up playing Pitt or Baltimore it's best to get it the week after a Pitt Balt grudge match.
