http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4791276 NEW YORK -- Jets punter Steven Weatherford's tweaked right hamstring is "feeling better," but still has some tightness a day before the team's must-win game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night. AFC East blog ESPN.com's Tim Graham writes about all things AFC East in his division blog. ? Blog network: NFL Nation Weatherford injured the hamstring in practice Friday, and coach Rex Ryan said the Jets would work out punters Saturday as a contingency plan. The team didn't sign anyone despite bringing some players in, an indication Weatherford might be fine for the game which the Jets (8-7) need to win to make the playoffs. If Weatherford plays but aggravates the injury during the game, kicker Jay Feely would take over the punting duties. Weatherford won the job in training camp and is averaging 41.9 gross yards, and 37.1 net.
I'd rather have a backup punter active for the game than Gholston. In a game with two great defenses field position is very important. I hope I'm wrong, but if Weatherford re injures his hamstring we are in big trouble.
excellent point. plus take into consideration the weather and wind factor....field position is going to be HUGEEE in this game., and you're right..an extra punter activated has much more value than Vernon "i have less tackles this season than Jay Feely and i'm a 1st round draft pick" Gholston.
This is a set up! Don't take the money from the evil NFL execs to blow this game like you always do, Jets! It's not worth it!
i was looking at the avatar and was like wtf??? thats kind of embarassing since we know how that worked out
is that a true stat? im thinkin about it and i have definitely said "good tackle feeley" more than gholston, i dont think ive ever said it actually... sad but true man lol
It is true for their careers. Gholston has 15 career tackles to Feely's 30. This season Gholston has 10 tackles. Feely has 4.
