14(14) NY Jets (from Carolina) Darrelle Revis CB PITTSBURGH Although Revis can take too long to change directions at times and has some problems matching up with explosive slot receivers, he is still a first-round talent. More importantly, his instincts should make him an excellent fit for head coach Eric Mangini's defensive schemes and he is a playmaker than can make a difference 18(18) Cincinnati Leon Hall CB MICHIGAN Hall is a physical cover corner who is tough enough to match up with bigger receivers, athletic enough to stay with slot receivers and can make big plays in coverage. The Bengals will have to give him safety help over the top when he lines up opposite a premiere deep threat. Cincinnati has done a good job of using the draft to build a potentially excellent secondary. 20(20) NY Giants Aaron Ross CB TEXAS The Giants got an excellent pick in Ross. He possesses a very good blend of size, speed, instincts and ball skills. If he develops as expected, he'll emerge as a playmaking starter in the NFL. Think I would've stayed put, and taken the man below considering our weak ass running game. 29(29) Baltimore Ben Grubbs OG AUBURN Grubbs is the best available guard and he is a great fit for this offense. He is a powerful drive blocker who can open up holes in short-yardage situations and is always looking to put defenders on their backs. Baltimore should also be confident about his ability to hold up in pass protection because he has excellent quickness.
What weak ass running game? We've got Leon and TJ now, and Leon did great last yr. The only thing weak last yr in our running game was barlow who was fed the ball way too much.
Our run blocking will get better considering Brick and Mangold will get better and we have Thomas Jones now, we needed to do something to help fix our secondary........... (I'm still pissed off about not getting Clements or Samuels though.......)
WOW. Our running game sucked last year. And no it wasn't barlows fault because even barlow would've had a better year last year if we had another decent guard. Now, i believe it will be improved this year, but i think people are expecting too much especially with how weak the right side of our oline looks on paper (average at best).
I'd rather give up the kings ransom for revis like we did than pay clements or smauel 80 freakin million
Yes for sure (CB), you can feel secure knowing we got the best CB, Leon Hall is unimpressive, and Ross is a Justin Miller clone only he is 25 years old (no brains and great athleticism, Houston obviosly slipped for a reason, (Mayock is a twit)
Here's what I know... It was between Revis and Hall for the best CB. Living in Indiana, I watch a lot of Big-10 football, and let me tell you, he has been TOAST every single time he faced a top flight WR. Guess what... In the NFL, he will face a top flight college WR every single week. That is why I'm thrilled that we picked Revis, clearly the best CB in the draft
LaRon Landry was the best DB. One of Revis, Hall and Griffin was the 2nd best. Ross really was not in that group at all and I'd be really surprised if he turns into a good CB.
Great trade as our two biggest areas of need were CB and OLB/DE. The Jets addressed both. Revis and Harris can both be immediate contributors. Revis can also be a big weapon as a kick returner.
Those were our two biggest needs? The Jets didn't draft an OLB/DE and I'm pretty sure that offensive line and nose tackle were much more pressing needs then OLB considering how well Thomas and Hobson played.
