I think we selected the best player in this entire draft. Love this guy:

Always loved Sapp, and compared to him, this is high praise indeed.

This is one of many reasons why I hate Goodell as commissioner. GTFO

I am not seeing any comment from Sapp.

He was a top fantasy scorer on DL this year. Him and Wilks were both near the top for DEs & DTs.

He may end up being the best draft pick we've had in a long time. He's probably been one of the top 2 or 3 players taken in the draft this year. I will gladly eat crow on this one as I didn't like the pick but I was sold on him immediately once I saw him play.

so youre saying you had never seen him play, yet you didn't like the pick :)

This is the problem with 99.9% of opinions on draft day

I should have clarified, I was familiar with him in college but didn't like the pick because it was Dline and we neglected the offense despite having 2 top 15 picks.

I thought the same thing, i didn't understand the pick at first with our other needs, but with such a dearth of offensive talent where we were picking, and after reading up on him, I came to like the pick. I honestly still don't understand why he was thought of as the lesser of the linemen, after shariff and star.

He was a very productive d lineman in the SEC, extremely high motor, and very versatile, even lining up at linebacker at times

They said the same thing about Suh after his rookie year. Almost 50 tackles and 10 sacks, wins defensive rookie of the year. Anointed the Next Warren Sapp.

Hasn't come close to that production since. He's still good, but not the gamechanger Sapp was.

Richardson needs a couple more excellent years like Sapp did before you start comparing him to Warren.

And if Rex gets fired then, in typical Jets fashion, we will bring in a new HC that loves the 4-3 and our ROY suddenly doesn't "fit" the system and gets traded to the Saints for a 4th round pick. Same. Old. Jets.

Wasn't Richardson seen as a better fit for the 4-3 prior to the draft?

I was kidding but I'm seriously concerned about the future of our talented d-line if Rex gets canned.

We run a very different defense - not a true 3-4 or a true 4-3.

IF Rex were to go, the next coach has his work cut out for him - this could also slow the development of those players.

    James Farrior.

I am guessing the next one in line would be Coples - prob my favorite player on the Jets

this exhibit A of why you just pick off your draft board and not the roster deficiencies. i hope everyone remembers this in the spring if we take another dl or cb with the first pick. take what the draft gives you and fill in the holes best you can

I love defense but sorry that's unacceptable. we are so stacked on DL that coples was moved to LB. we've spent two of our recent first rounders on CB. If we draft defense in the early rounds at all, it better be a linebacker or safety or this fanbase will rightfully explode in anger.
