a horror film ....guy woulda been undrafted if we didnt get him in the 2nd round ...most unathletic player ive seen
The guy had a lousy half and has fell way below expectations...but if you don't see the raw physical talent Ducasse displays...you should retire from sharing opinions on player ability.
Whats the point of having raw talent if your as dumb as bricks? He doesn't look like hes ever played a down in his life.
It's the first preseason game, and the young players are at a major disadvantage because the lockout cost them time with the coaching staff. That said, Vlad has looked terrible.
Sure. I don't disagree...but what the poster said was that he was the most unathletic player he has ever seen. That is a false statement.
I think he looks unathletic AND stupid. I mean he's got a pass rusher off the edge and he takes a step forward?!
So you didn't see him knock the shit out of his guy on Greene's long run? I did. But in pass pro he's lost. Bad footwork, over extended, late to get his hands on his assignment. I'll give his run blocking a B and his pass protection an F-
great hit on the greene run no doubt but it's too scary to have him out there at times. that hit on McElroy was rough.
It's a concern yes. But all we can do is let him try and play through it. The majority of his issues are mental with what appears to be indecision. You'd like to think that is correctable. This isn't like Gholston where he just never flashed any type of elite ability or skill. Vlad has had some impressive snaps specifically in the running game.Obviously it's just gonna be baby steps with him. replacing Hunter in that 6th olinemen in the jumbo package this season will do loads for his development and confidence.
He's been pretty pathetic in pass protection but he is a work in progress as he's been since the day we drafted him, so I wouldn't judge him as an overall player just yet.
I agree its all mental. You can see it in his body language. Its just that half second hesitation because he's thinking. I saw it in Wilkerson early on today. He had some nerves out there. But Vlad needs to master the art of the one on one battle in pass pro and he'll be fine. As of right now, he's got some work to do. I hope with one more year, he turns in to a beastly OLmen.
Wilkerson impressed me really. He's not a playmaker just yet and his first series was shakey, but he stood every line-man he faced straight up and extended out those long arms...when he learns how to disengage he could be scary good. In the meantime..he still can 2 gap relatively well and collapse the pocket.
