Would any of you guys take a punt on Wilfork if the pats released him. Basically the Revis situation reversed.

No we have Snacks and Kendrick Ellis is a solid backup. Wilfork would be an expensive guy that plays 10-12 snaps a game max with us.

No DT's are far from a need. Hell the whole Dline is fine as is. No need to bring him in.

As satisfying as it would be to stick it to the Pats, we already have a great D-line.

If we wanted to stick to the Pats we'd sign Edleman we actually need another receiver. Maybe Steve Gregory the safety. Nose tackle just isn't a need

This is probably the position of least need on the roster, like others have said. On the flip side, we could certainly use him if he came cheaply.

The reason he asked to be released is that the Pats used up all their cap space on Revis, and still need to sign more guys and their draft class. Belichick was probably going to wait until after the draft, and then ask him to take a big salary cut, because there would be lower demand for him after the draft and after everyone has spent most of their cap money. Then he'd have to play for like $2m or something.

By asking to be released, now he has the chance to get a better deal from another team as a free agent.

It won't be us, because we don't need another nose tackle. If somehow he was willing to come very cheaply, then the door should be open for him, but it's not a priority. If we got him, I would still keep Ellis for sure. I bet Rex could come up with some interesting blitzes using multiple nose tackles in the middle to stop the run, which would be pretty interesting.

Its good cause itll be a blow to them. It'll open up the inside run game which is where we'd need to attack in order to be effective. Especially if Mayo goes down again.
