Not saying what they did is correct. But how is cheating so much less of a penalty. Filming a team and knowing what plays are coming is the equivalent of stealing a companies plans for the next year. It is highway robbery and should have been a greater penalty than a draft pick and a fine.
Spygate was so bad that they burned all of the evidence and this is getting all of the attack. pathetic
This is about money. The league is pressing for player safety to try and avoid lawsuits and reduce insurance premiums. Meanwhile, the Saints were caught paying bounties to purposely injure people. That doesn't help player safety and the league had to respond with severe punishment.
Scott Fujita is suspended for 3 games Anthony Hargrove is suspended for 8 games Will Smith is suspended for 4 games. All without pay
Damn....thats...thats some shit right there. Probly appeal and get it down to 8 games or some shit I bet... The whole year...damn...
Vilma Suspended for ENTIRE Season Ex-Jet news... NFL suspended Saints MLB Jonathan Vilma for the entire season for his role in the bounty scandal. The NFL's investigation concluded that Vilma, as captain of the defense, aided Greg Williams in establishing and funding the bounty program. Vilma's suspension will kick in immediately while Packers DE Anthony Hargrove (8 games), Saints DE Will Smith (4 games), and Browns LB Scott Fujita (3 games) are allowed to participate in OTAs and preseason action. Curtis Lofton will shift to middle linebacker, with David Hawthorne on the weak side and one of Scott Shanle, Martez Wilson, and Chris Chamberlain on the strong side. No other players will be suspended for the bounty scandal.
This is still complete bullshit. If I go into the Coca Cola factory and film them producing their product so I know what their secret formula is, do you think they are gonna fine me a small amount like they fined the Patriots, or are they going to throw me in jail? You cannot set precedence for cheating with such small fines and no suspensions and 4 years later make huge penalties for a bounty system.
This is totally deserved. Goodell's entire legacy is about two words: player safety. He had to come down with a 20 pound sledge hammer for this. It was pre-meditated, organized, and completely intentional. How can you fine players $40,000 plus for an in-the-moment, bang-bang vicious hit, and then not come down ten times as hard for a program that bankrolls those hits? Goodell's job is to protect the shield - the integrity of the product. He had to send a message that this will never be tolerated. Vilma's lucky it's not indefinite.
I wonder if the players will appeal. I wonder what evidence Goodell found to make these decisions. I think this is a good move by Goodell if he has the appropriate evidence
My first reaction was shock that it was this long, but after a moment's reflection I agree with you (and others who have said it). If they have proof that he offered teammates $10,000 to knock Warner or Favre out of playoff games I think this is completely deserved.
I just love how Goodell preaches player safety and coming down hard on a these hits but hes still pushing for an 18 game season Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
i am amazed at how many people are ok with these suspensions... i am disgusted with them being this long for something that i really dont view as a problem. we ask these guys to kill eachother and then get mad when they offer eachother peanuts (10k vs. 10 million) to do the same thing we pay them for. its non sensible. its as bad as firing everyone who joins the 5 dollar office pool for the ncaa tournament.
