Vikings | Team changing uniforms Tue, 14 Mar 2006 19:46:00 -0800 Maybe a loveboat logo? How about sailor caps and bell bottoms?
Thank goodness! That's one more team that's keeping up with the times. Gone are the days NFL players wore sleeves, so any type of bars on "sides" of jerseys (see Steelers, Packers, Giants road jerseys) and vertical lines (see Panthers, Vikings road jerseys, Jets) make today's jerseys look ridiculous. I was so turned off by seeing Daunte Culpepper's road jersey look very different than his lineman's jerseys (the vertical striping was so much smaller on the lineman's jersey- it looked moronic).
Are you a uni watch correspondant? I actually like the Steelers and Packers jerseys. Giants are eh. I don't like the hatin on the Jets jerseys. Have you forgotten we have the best jerseys in the league?
I just can't stand the "sleeves" anymore. Just look at pictures from the recent Super Bowl. What the heck is that yellow and black crap on the sides of the Steelers jerseys? When they were winning SBs in the '70s the unis looked good because players wore sleeves and the horizontal striping wrapped around the sleeves. Now that stuff is truncated near the players' shoulders. It is mindless. I liked the Jets switch in 1998. It worked for a while. Now it's getting cuckoo with the vertical stripe. Compare the 1998 jerseys to the 2005 ones and you'll see a difference. Say what you want about the new-age uniforms of the Miami Hurricanes, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, and Atlanta Falcons, but those teams get it.
Great, more modern, Broncos inspired crap. Even if purple is nasty, this messing with a classic nfl uni.
