Last night was my first home jets game. I'm from South Florida but was born an raised a jets fan. I've been going to the game in Miami every year since 98 but last night was my first in the meadowlands. I'm not sure if every game is like last nights, but the fans were absolutely terrible. After the first two drives or so our fans did not make much noise. I was extremely dissaponted. At dolphins games their fans go crazy. First downs, big pass plays, touchdowns, and defensive stops create an uproar that I didn't hear once out of our fans. I don't care if it's a lost season but still show some passion! On that 4th and inches at the end of the game there was no noise at all. With 8 minutes left in the game I heard more dolphin chants than jets Players feed off the energy and noise and noise in a stadium. I remember reading an article about Leon saying he returns kicks better when the crowd is pumped. I hope that what I witnessed last night was not the way every game is. I was so pumped to be with jets fans instead of dolphin fans for once...but I was greatly dissapointed.
What are you talking about? Everyone was into it the first quarter despite the fact that the prospect going into the playoffs became virtually non existant. In the fourth quarter we were all too pissed to function.
Bingo. Jets crowds are never particularly strong, and when we're eliminated from the playoffs, and Dolphins fans buy up a lot of the extra tickets, it won't be as loud.
It would have been completely different if the Pats lost. Who really thought the Ravens would lose to the Jags... I'm not saying I wanted to see the Jets lose but it was really a Lose-Lose for the team. It was going to be either the Dolphins or Pats. A lot of Dolphin fans was there, including the Dolphin fan next to me screaming into my ear. The loudest point was when around the time the Jets scored their TD and when the Jags went up 7-3. After that point, it really was the beginning of the End. The Jags couldn't stop the Ravens to save their lives and the Jets.. are the Jets.
ummm, the Jets were pretty much eliminated once Baltimore went up 17-7 (which was very quickly) how much fire do you expect the players and fans to have once the season is over. Either you knock Miami out and Belichicken in, or knock Belichicken out and Miami in woohoo...so thrilling last night was the lesser of two evils imho. I can still look at Chad. I can't stand to look at Belichick or Cassel or Kraft or any gaytriots.
I was at the game also, and been going to the games my entire life. It's very hard to be motivated to win a game, when the only good thing that comes out of it is a Bill Bellichek playoff berth. When it's 24-7 Baltimore, and you know every Pats fan is sitting there praying for the Jets to pull it out....it is difficult to scream and yell only to put smiles on those patriots fans' faces. I was still rooting for the Jets at this point, but i was not out of my seat screaming and yelling for a defensive stop. It would not be fair to judge our fans, based on how loud we were in the 4th quarter of a game where we just got eliminated fromt he post season within the hour, when a month previously we were 8-3 with superbowl dreams...I was genuinely upset, dissappointed, and discouraged and was not going to be fake screaming and yelling like many other drunk fools w/ no knowledge of the game do every Sunday.
We were all salty. We were willing to fight ourselves from what I witnessed. The crowd was great early on and we digressed as our hopes and the game went "south". The 4th Qr had alot of fights. It was the most I've seen at a game in my years going. Next time the 'Fish fans should stay home. Or at the very least, don't come into another teams home and act like a jackass.
And if the team wants the crowd to be loud, then they should put a better product on the field, play with a sense of urgency and go balls to the wall. I haven't seen that in 7 weeks.
