It doesn't take a Mangenius to figure out that the Jets are absolutely loaded with talent right now... this team probably has more talent on it than the Jets have had since the days of the Sack Exchange and Walker/Toon/Shuler. Mike Tannenbaum has done an absolutely fantastic job of putting together this roster from the very day he took over for Boobway. Out the door were the DeWayne Robertsons and Doug Jolleys of the world, in came the D'Brickashaw Fergusons, Darrelle Revis, Dustin Keller, and Mark Sanchez's of the world. The Jets may or may not be ready to compete for a Super Bowl just yet but the talent base that they have in place is going to be competitive for YEARS. Never in my life have I been so confident in a team not only now, but moving forward as well. We won't be truly happy until the Jets are holding the Lombardi trophy for themselves, but I feel like the Jets are truly on their way to reaching that goal. It won't be more than two or three years, possibly less before this team is viewed as one of the elite teams in the NFL. So to Mike Tannenbaum, I say fantastic job.
If Tanny keeps all of his picks and has a draft similar to the one he had in 06 next april and the jets become perennial division contenders and then Super Bowl contenders, he gets the genius tag.
People usually criticize him for trading away picks, but he has managed to build depth at many positions at this point despite that. Tanny really deserves the credit that we don't give him.
Team looks real good...just have to work on developing depth talent in the trenches; then we'll be set for the long term. I hate when we trade up, but if you keep hitting like that it's hard to argue with.
Best part about our team is that most of our best players are some of our youngest...and stay out of trouble off the field.
I actually like that idea. We apparently target a few players and then draft accordingly. We have picked up real gems last few draft picks and I just can not ask for anything else. As for depth, thats why we have FA. Tanny is one hell of a worker!!!
Mangold, D'Brick, Keller, Stuckey, Sanchez, Leon, Revis, Harris, Shonn Greene All drafted during Tannenbaum, while most of them we had to trade up for. Then he brought in Jenkins, Pace, Scott, Leonhard, Sheppard, Jones, Woody and Faneca. Thats 17 players, all starters (except Shonne). If Gholston works out, we have our selves a great GM!
Leon for Herm could go down as the best trade in franchise history. Props aren't enough for the lopsidedness of that.
Noway on Earth I can forget about him...I listed him after Sanchez, but yeah, he deserves a full name recognition...lol
What our F.O. does is every year they have their eye on a player that they really want and will do whatever it takes to get them. Revis, Harris, Keller, Sanchez, Greene were all traded up for in the draft (I could be wrong about trading up for Harris). These guys are all studs, with the exception of Greene, who we just haven't seen enough of yet. This is a very promising trend.
c'mon Willie....you've never let a little thing like "thread certification" stop you from prostituting yourself in the past.
