Name: Brandon Guillory Position: DE/LB School: Louisiana Monroe Height: 6'4" Weight: 255 Speed: 4.54 Scouting Report: He is a player who is currently listed at defensive end who will become a disruptive force at linebacker at the next level. Athletically his skills are similar to players much smaller in his agility, quickness, change of direction, stop and go movement, and burst for a player of his size. His unique and exceptional skills for a player of his size is one reason I feel he will be a terror when switched to the linebacker position in the NFL. Another reason I feel his transition to the linebacker position will go so smoothly is due to his lateral hip movement, and ability he displays in space versus opponents one on one. He reminds me of current NFL defensive end/outside linebacker hybrid "DeMarcus Ware" of the Dallas Cowboys, in his skills, stature and demeanor for the game. One more thing that is similar between DeMarcus and himself is that they both come from the same conference of the "Sun Belt". Despite his weight disparity disadvantage he came up against at the defensive end position in college the majority of snaps, he still sustained his active motor and relentless disposition after the ball and in pursuit of ball carriers. He possesses excellent anticipation and jump off the snap of the ball, who brings consistent heat and burst off the edge versus opponents, along with striking fear into opposing players often resulting in false starts and frustration before games end. He also possesses the speed and quickness to run down plays from the backside, with the closing speed to frequently run down ball carriers, and a player who looks to initiate contact with opponents with an attacking style of play on the field. He is a player that plays light on his feet, who battles opponents till the whistle, with the physical nastiness needed to be a dominant figure on the field, and the most important elements of determination and passion he displays on the field that will maximize his play. He is a disruptive playmaker and momentum changer to the flow and tempo of any game, a player opposing teams must account for on each and every play. One part of his game I would like to see him improve on would be in the run game, where in his enthusiasm to get to the quarterback he leaves running lanes open for opposing teams to run through, though it could be a design of the defense than a flaw in his game. At times he tends to dance with initial blockers too long, and needs to utilize his hands and arms more often in his pass rush to shed and throw them to the side more quickly in improving his vision for finding the location of the ball. With all that being said, he is raw technique wise and as an athlete, his upside is as large as anyone else in this upcoming draft, if he were to find an NFL team that can match his awesome raw athletic skills with good to excellent coaching, the sky is the limit with him! He could become an uncovered hidden gem for some NFL team come draft day! He was 6th in the nation in sacks with 10.5 in 2005.
