I think the one person that has been totally under the radar as of late but a significant contributor to our success has been Justin McCarein. Over the last 4 games he has been the catalyst to change the passing rhythm when things don't go quite as planned between Chad and Coles. The Miami game was an example of that, as the Vikings game. As more and more teams will double on Coles in the playoff, Justin is a great option as well as Brad. I am actually quite pleased with his performace as the 3rd receiver. He could be a surprise player in the playoffs....and against Oakland as well.

i agree -- if nothing else it now forces teams to account for him on defense. And since he is a legit deep threat it will force a team to rotate a safety over for help which could open up the under neath stuff and screens for big gains

just throwing the ball towards him one time will make the other D think -- which helps us

That's pretty much what I see McCareins being. A guy who runs fly patterns a few times a game. I have zero confidence that he will catch the ball, so when he does, it is all gravy.

He's a solid #3/#4 WR but nothing more. We should definitely hold onto him after this season to continue to have great depth at the WR position.

I would be upset if McCareins were let go of after this season. He is an excellent #3/deep threat, and he has shown that he is a 'Mangini' guy, willingly playing special teams after being taken out of the starting lineup.

Maybe we should restructure his deal so it looks like a #3 guy contract, but I want him with this team in the future...

Hmm I was never a fan of McCarein's, there is a reason he lost his starting job and he is only seeing playing time since Dwight went down. I think he quits on plays and does not fight for the ball (which Chad needs, see how Coles and Coth adjust). The couple of deep catches he has he almost dropped those passes. But yeah he has made some impact plays this season, most likely because the defense didn't think Chad would throw him the ball. But this Sunday believe me he will be covered deep when he comes in the game you can only go to the cookie jar a few times and if its obvious to me when he comes in the game he goes deep, BB sees the pattern too.

Exactly, but that's not a bad thing. Justin had a few big plays over the last few weeks and BB definately knows this, but that will take pressure off of Coles or Cotch. I'm sure NE is game planning knowing that he had a few big plays the last few weeks.
