I love Herzlich but he doesn't fit into our scheme, he's a 4-3 OLB. The best be can do in our 3-4 is play a Bryan Thomas type role as a run stuffer but that's it.

He may never be a full time player but he would be one hell of a ST player. The guy just oozes football. I would like to see him compete with Laury, Mauga, or whoever to be our ST ace. It wouldn't surprise me if the guy could become our long snapper too.

as a UDFA though, he is absolutely worth bringing in. If he can become a Bryan Thomas type of player, that is exceptional value from a UDFA. To me there is just something about Herzlich that makes me think the guy is going to play in the league for quite a while (provided the cancer stays gone). If you can get that from a UDFA, then you have to be pretty happy....

Mark Herzlich was taken in the UFL draft, and I think in order for a team to get the rights to him they have to pay out $150K at least.

Not that it's a lot to a NFL team, just saying.

Mark Herzlich, as a back-up ILB and instant ST player (Laury's roster spot basically).

Deunta Williams, then stash him on IR for a year in case what we have at FS (Pool, Lowery) doesn't work out in 2011.

Ugo Chinasa & Steven Friday, let them compete for an OLB roster spot.

Kristofer O’Dowd & Ryan Bartholomew, we need a back-up G/C if we lose Turner.

Kendric Burney, if Lowery stays at FS full time and we lose Cromartie.

Herzlich declined the opportunity to play in the UFL so he'll be available to NFL teams... it still amazes me he wasn't taken even in rd 7...

Good for him, I saw on his Twitter account retweets about him and the NFL.

I did read somewhere that GMs are talking to UDFAs even though they aren't supposed to.

    Joe Lefeged S

    Kendrick Burney CB

    Nick Bellore ILB

    Mario Addison OLB

    Zach Hurd G

    Dane Sazenbacher WR

I like these players in that order. All these guys provide depth at needed positions and could stick on ST.

i think JTJ's point is that he would rather have the SHOT at being a full time player. and his chances are far higher in 4-3 system

I'd love to see him eventually take Scott's position... or at least alternating with him.

    DeAndre Mcdaniel
    Joe Lefeged
Tori Gurley - I really think he is going to be a good one. He has skill, was just overshadowed
Noel Devine - I think this kid is awesome
    Pierre Allen
    Jerrard Tarrant
    Zach Hurd
    Terrence Tolliver

That is my wish list. I hope we can get a few of these guys.

I'd much prefer he opens said pizza stand considering he didn't even make the PS until mid-way through the season.

You're underrating Thomas or overrating UDFAs or both. If an UDFA can play special teams and give you 100 snaps on defense of the course of a season as depth he's a TERRIFIC pickup; the idea that we wouldn't really like him because he could only be as good as our ok starting LB is nuts.

no dane sanzenbacher on your list? :)

not sure if he'd fit considering we have cotch / edwards / holmes (or a small combo of them) - but he's going to make some team happy...
