In one of the mocks (by Chris Trapasso), following are the top ten picks: Mock Draft #1 1. Buffalo - Nick Bosa, DE, OSU 2. Cardinals - Jonah Williams, LT Alabama 3. Raiders - Clelin Farrell, DE, Clemson 4. Colts - Ed Oliver, DT, Houston 5. Lions - Dre'Mont Jones, DT, OSU 6. Browns - Greg Little, LT, Ole Miss 7. Seahawks - Greedy Williams, CB, LSU 8. Jets - Bobby Evans, OT, Oklahoma 9. Dolphins - A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss 10. Cowboys - N'Keal Harry, WR, AZ ST. the Giants get Drew Lock, QB at #13, The Broncos get Ryan Finley, QB at #19 I'd laugh my ass off at the Dolphins skipping taking a QB I don't know anything about Evans other than what Trappasso lists that "he is a mauler, with light feet, and experience at both RT and LT. If he's a mauler, would he really fit our zone blocking scheme? Of course, we may have a whole new CS next season and may switch from the zone to a man scheme. **** Mock Draft #2 In the other (by Ryan Wilson) the top 10 picks are as follows: 1. Browns - Ed Oliver, DT, Houston 2. Cardinals - Nick Bosa, DE, OSU 3. Bills - Greg Little, LT, Ole Miss 4. Jets - Jonah Williams, LT, Alabama 5. Raiders - Clelin Farrell, DE, Clemson 6. Dolphins - Drew Lock, QB, Missouri 7. Bucs - Dre'Mont Jones, DT, OSU 8. Bengals - Brian Burns, DE, FSU 9. Redskins - N'Keal Harry, WR, AZ ST. 10. Giants - Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
Tempting ..but that would be prohibitive imo We already tapped ourselves out of future picks with Darnold...no? Plus if the FO continues to go bargain shopping for an OL and not devote a first or second round pick to a really good player I bet a few fans start rooting for the Eagles or Rams...sick of this obsession with defense in a big play, high scoring league...archaic
While I want an end or a OL with our first pick, sadly it will be hard to find a 2nd round pick OL next year
Agreed we need a LT badly and there is a better chance that there will be an above average pass rusher in free agency than there is for OL.
Yeah, this is shaping up to be a huge offseason for the Jets. Which is mostly why I think we should give Mac at least one more year. Do we keep Bowles? Do we get LeVeon? Do we revamp oline in free agency or draft? Do we get Sam any other new weapons? Next year is the year the "rebuild" should start to pay dividends.
T and Edge are equally skilled positions. I'm fine with addressing either. Bosa is a can't miss, no-brainer prospect and is the embodiment of what the Jets tried to instill with the "culture change".
It's definitely going to be a HUGE offseason. If Mac is still here, it will be a make or break season for him. I hope that Bowles is gone. While, I hate coaching changes where the offensive and/or defensive systems change, it may be a necessary evil as I think Bowles needs to go, and we may not find an experienced OC and/or DC who want to keep the same systems. It would definitely be better for Sam, if we kept a WCO. The D may need to shift to a 4-3 unless we can get that edge rusher. Thankfully, they should be at least 1-2 quality edge rushers available in FA, and maybe even more. Unfortunately, there probably won't be much help for the OL in FA. The best one that could be available is Ali Marpet, an OG. There 2-3 RTs who could hit FA who might be an upgrade from Shell, but may only be an upgrade from Qvale. They may be able to upgrade depth at another position of two, but that's probably as good as can be expected looking at who the potential FAs will be. Most of the OL improvement will have to come from the draft. Hopefully, we don't sign LeVeon. I wouldn't count on any new weapons for Sam, either. There may be a WR or two or a TE or RB who would be good complimentary pieces, but no real weapons outside of LeVeon.
Bosa is a can't miss, but even if the Jets are drafting high enough to get him without a trade up, I don't think they can or should take him. Beacham is about done. The Jets HAVE to get an LT in the draft if they plan on developing Sam and keeping him healthy. There won't be anything in FA worth a damn at LT, unless one of the younger players who will probably be available suddenly has an epiphany and learns how to play. I hope not, but things are so bad (so few options in FA) at LT that they may have to even re-sign Ijalana for depth, either that or draft an LT with their #1 pick and draft his backup in the 3rd or 4th round.
I wonder who we will get with the one pick ? Or how many picks we can get back for the one pick and still draft a top LT
It is becoming increasingly more evident the Jets will be selecting in the top 6 again. Hopefully some of these QB prospects like Herbert, Lock, Stidham, Grier, etc... solidify themselves for the 1st round. Have to believe the Jets trade down in round 1 to get more picks. This team has 0 talent on the offensive side of the ball and desperately needs an EDGE rusher too.
We need a pass rusher desperately but we need an all new OL even more so or we will waste our shiny new QB and that will be an utter disaster.
Don't disagree but if the Jets are picking 1 or 2, no OL prospect surpasses Bosa as BPA. Bosa will be the Jets #1 player on the board no matter the position -- so they will have to take him. I view Bosa literally as a Khalil Mack, game changing player. If the Jets were in on Mack, they almost are guaranteed to be in on Bosa.
Probably but then somebody sensible should maybe trade back for a sack full of picks and grab a new OL, we won't though lol
Unless that pass rusher is Bosa, not selecting some blue chip OL will essentially toss away the the picks used for Darnold too
In theory, yes... but how often does that work out.... for this team? Gotta hope there's some QB prospects available when the JETS pick is on the clock
