After a day off we have another practice session today. Twitter updates will be posted of course, as always. Maccagnan is on ESPN right now by the way if anybody wants to check in: http://espn.go.com/espnradio/newyork/play?s=nyc
Quick recap: Re: Geno - Has physical ability. Good arm etc. but going forward he has to be more consistent. Physically he's got everything. Re: Sheldon / Expecations - Will do anything in their power to support Sheldon, League will handle the rest (fines, suspension etc.). Sheldon feels terrible about it, this will take time to build up the trust again. Re: Sheldon / Mo Contract - In discussions with Mo's agent, but agreed to not talk about this in public. Sheldon situation doesn't affect this in any way. Re: Drafting Leonard Williams - Goal is always to draft the best player available, you never know who might get hurt etc. Re: Revis - Big thing with him was that he'd been here before, he knew some of the guys we have here. The leadership he brings, great professional in how he prepares and all that. Re: Defense - Difficult to build a new D-Backfield in such a short time but happy how it turned out now. Will see where they are exactly once preseason starts. Re: Marshall's impact - Was excited when he heard Marshall became available. Great redzone threat, physical guy. Very intense, hard worker, great example for the younger guys. Like Revis. Excited to have a good player with a bunch of good years left. Re: Devin Smith - Had a very good offseason, very confident when he returns that he'll do well. Re: Expectations - Tough business, want to build longterm, compete for playoffs and hopefully championships. Re: RB's - Up to Todd to rank them. Mentioned Ivory, Powell, also gave some props to Daryl Richardson. Re: Petty - Again, not his decision. It's up to Todd. Re: Tom Brady - League matter, we focus on our team. Snacks will be up next.
Snacks recap (now down 15 pounds): Re: Sheldon - He's a brother. Hurts to lose him but the next guy has to step up. Next guy being Leonard. Re: Leonard - Leonard talks, usually rookies are quiet. Communication is great, he speaks up for himself. Re: Best NT - Stand by that statement. Fits the bill if you look at the description of a NT. Doesn't want to be #2 or #3. Re: Best Defense? - Anything is possible. Brought in some new guys, it looks good on paper, even better on Madden. Re: Madden - Plays Madden every day. Uses the Jets. Best Madden player in the world. Played TJ Barnes 2 days ago, destroyed him. Demario Davis is pretty good, lost to him because he got the game earlier and he uses a custom playbook which Snacks doesn't do.
I'd be shocked if he actually said that, I think you misread it. 2 days ago Bowles said in the presser after practice that he'll put the depth chart / starting lineup (QB) together by the 2nd or 3rd preseason game.
Can't wait for the update from Day 6!! ***** Spoiler Alert***** Mac: Genos the only option we have we all hate him ......hopefully one day I can cut him
Here we go. Looks like Mo is sitting this one out. Wilkerson in rehab area with bucket hat...no shells. Looks like he'll sit out today with the tweaked hammy.
Guys in rehab area who aren't suited up: Mo Wilkerson, Stevan Ridley, Kevin Vickerson, DeVier Posey, Charles Brown.
Mo Wilkerson slow pedaling on stationary bike in rehab area. This is his second straight day with no practice since getting hurt. #Jets players on exercise bike rehab area.
Posey is going to rehab himself off the team. Too much competition at wr4 and 5 for anyone to be missing reps.
Yeah. Have yet to hear him make any plays and now being injured certainly won't help either. Doubt he makes it.
Lots of good-natured chirping and chatting between Brandon Marshall and Antonio Cromartie during one-on-one drill. Owusu again. Skrine jams him at the line but then he turns on the speed and smokes him deep. Shaq Evans with a drop in one on one drills. Drops to do pushups. If Shaq keeps it up he could set a new world record in pushups.
I think Posey and Evans are the odd men out so far in terms of wide receivers. Evans drops far too many passes.
