Which spot would we need to move up to to guarantee getting one of these two guys? The 6th pick? The Raiders seem intent on taking a WR, and the Seahawks or Browns will likely take a WR.

What would it cost to move up?

Tannenbaum has shown a propensity for wheeling and dealing on draft day. I know we're "more than 1 player away" but I would like to see us have a true #1 WR for the 1st time since Don Maynard....It would certainly take some pressure off Clemens/Ratliff as well.

i believe this is going to happen, and we will all yet again be praising tanny. and we did have a true #1 in keyshawn. from the mock drafts that i have seen, those 2 wr's will go 7 and 8, so we need either to trade for those, or something before. i cant see us drafting an unproven qb when we have 3 unproven qb's on our roster, none who are bad, just inexperienced, but who know the playbook/offense more than a rookie coming in. i dont see us using our first rounder for defense, o-line depth, rb replacement (we have 2 pro bowlers and jones doesn't have trade value!), or a second year with a 1st-round TE. we will be going WR with our 1st rounder, and expect the jets to trade up for maclin or crabtree rather than take dhb or hakeem who are more likely to be busts.

Hard to say. Maclin won't fall past the Raiders, and Crabtree was a consensus top 5 pick, even if he slips he won't dip out of the top 10. It probably wouldn't be worth it in such a WR-deep draft class.

I really hope this happens. If we sit tight, Kenny Britt would be a reach at #17, no?

Freeman would be a throwaway pick -- I hope to God we don't take him. And if we take another TE (Pettigrew) with our 1st rounder, it would be a classic NYJ draft day disaster.

Keyshawn was the best WR we've had in recent years, but I don't know if he was a true #1. His lack of vertical speed made him more of a possession receiver.

It would probably cost more to move up for one of those guys than to trade for Boldin.

Boldin is great, but does he have any desire to be a Jet?

I mean we could throw a lot of money at him, but everything I've read says that he's on record that he wants to go somewhere "he can win a Super Bowl" right away. Plus, supposedly his #1 choice is to play somewhere back in Florida where he went to college. If he goes to Miami, that would suck....

Personally, I'd like to see us develop some of our own talent via the draft. If Crabtree is legit -- and I believe he is -- he'd be younger and cheaper and have more productive years ahead of him than Boldin.

I'm not sure. Look up the numbers. Depends on your definition of a #1, too, I guess.

If his main concern was winning a superbowl right away he'd stay in Arizona. He wants money.

There's no guarantee Crabtree can even play in the NFL. Boldin is a proven commodity.

If we can get Boldin without killing our cap for the next 5 years and he's happy to be here, I'd be all for it.

Maybe his talk about needing to be on a Super Bowl contender is just posturing. But anyway, the guy wants Larry Fitzgerald money, probably at least $10 M per year. Can we afford him? Also, he would likely seek an extension to his current deal, which I believe still has 3 or 4 years remaining.

Trade down for more picks. That saves the cap and brings in more players. Take Britt in the second round.

I thought teams were starting shy away from Boldin because of a supposed hip problem....that's what the analysts were talking about on NFLTA on Monday.

10 million a year is a bit much to pay a player....you might get 2 or 3 good years out of......as a result of a chronic medical problem. He also has had nagging hamstring injuries over the last couple of seasons.

Don't get me wrong....Boldin is an excellent player...i love the way he plays....but i think the Jets needs to weigh the Pros and Cons regarding his medical history...before they trade away picks and blow cap space on this guy.

I would never move up to draft a WR.

If where going to trade up for a receiver i rather get Maclin. Good size , Good hands and has that breakaway speed we been lacking with our receiver's. Crabtree is a solid pick too but he lacks a great burst and has some injury concerns.

you trade up for a no shit WR prospect like Calvin Johnson... no WR in this draft comes close to his talent.

Trading up for a WR is not smart.

If the Jets are going to trade up as high as they would need to for Crabtree/Maclin, it would be for Sanchez, not the WRs. You don't ever trade up for WRs, the position consistently produces later round prospects that are as good or better then the fist round prospects. I could see that again this year.

More importantly, no #1 WRs on this team since Maynard? WR is the one position in team history that their has been really good talent at. Toon until he was forced to retire too young was as talented as any WR in football history, was a #1. Keyshawn was a #1 and so was Coles in his prime. There were many other talented WRs through the years as well.

The guy made Ray Lucas look good. Ray f*cking Lucas!

The only way he isn't a # 1 is if there is something better than that.

Absolutely. According to the trade value chart, to move up to the 8th from 17th will cost us our first, second AND third rounder. Way too much for one player IMO unless Stafford was falling like Tom Brady's knee!
