He doesn't fit the 3-4. I wonder if the Texans or Saints would take him plus the #4 to move up to their spot. Then the Jets would still have 2 first rounders. If we just trade him for a pick a second rounder would probably be the best the Jets could get.
I agree with trading Robertson NOW! If he doesnt fit in the 3-4 what good will he do. He never broke out in the 4-3. So why would he in the 3-4?
Hmm lets see DeW has made such a impact around the league with his play up to now we should demand this years & next years & the year after that 1st draft choices cause he such a game changing player
He broke out when he had a real NT tackle next to him. Robertson had a monster 2004 season and should have made the pro bowl. I'm not giving up on him. I still think D-Rob can be a monster, I'm just not sure how he fits into our defensive scheme next season.
Since he didn't get a restructured deal this year, and his cap hit is significantly less if cut next year, you can bet dollars to donuts he's got one season to prove to Coach Mangini his worth.
we can trade him and our forth for the second pick then trade our second pick to detroit for their 9th, 40th and roy williams
not related but because of the robinson screw-up... does anyone remember when damien robinson was arrested outside the stadium with an AK-47??? he said it was to protect his family and the ledger had a pic of him on the backs of the JETS with AK in hand... hahahahahahahahaha
I would like to see the Jets package Dewayne and a 2nd or 3rd (preferably) to move up into the low teens in the first round. The Jets need upgrade in so many areas and with 3 first round picks we can get a nice start on building the foundation.
Yeah i total agree atlanta jet we get rid of a superb DT and keep a ok Reed and have Piouha who has no experince. Yeah man running back will have no chance of blowing though the middle of are line.
A few things here.. 1. People tend to forget that D rob had a very good 2005 season in which he shouldve made the pro bowl. This gets forgotten b/c people are too wrapped up in the draft picks we gave up for him. Bad trade or not, he had a great season and was a key to our D's success. 2. We will not be playing a strict 3-4. It will be a hybrid defense that highlights mismatches up front and creates confussion for the opposition w/ our LB's. We could see anything from a 1 man front to a 5 man front..the key is mismatches. 3. W/ the front mismatches in mind, D rob is truthfully our only player on the DL who is capable of really creating personell-related mismatches for the opposition. His powerful frame and quickness off the snap could make him a real asset in Mangini's D. There's a reason Bellichick wanted him for his D before the 2003 draft. It would be wise to have him stick around for another season to see what he is capable of in this D. If his knee condition worsens significantly and /or he does not further develop...then he will be gone in 08.
What don't people get about Robertson not fitting a 3-4. He's pretty good in a 4-3 if paired with a big co-DT. He is useless as a 3-4 NT. We will need to pick up a new NT anyway through the draft or FA. There is no point in keeping him around taking up roster and cap space. The same can be said for John Abraham great DE in the 4-3 in pass rush situations, useless as a DE or OLB(because he can't drop back into coverage.) in the 3-4.
