At least, we're not hearing any more about how much talent there is on the Raiders' roster, something that became almost a mantra through the years even while the Raiders struggled.

Last year, it appeared Oakland was ready to become a contender again. Rob Ryan's defense was heading into its second year, Kerry Collins was set as the starting quarterback, plus the additions of Randy Moss and LaMont Jordan and the maturing of a stud lineman like Robert Gallery.

None of that panned out. The defense again was awful, Moss had little impact, Jordan played like the backup he used to be, Gallery struggled again at right tackle, and Collins became the fall guy. Now, Gallery is moving to the left side, where he played in college, and a new coaching staff is supposed to fix things.

Not likely. Tom Walsh, the offensive coordinator, has been out of football for years. New QB Aaron Brooks is a mediocre QB whose career appeared on the downside in New Orleans. The hope for improvement lies in the secondary, where the Raiders concentrated in both free agency and the draft, but it's worth noting they have used their No. 1 pick on a defensive back in five of the last six years.

See Raiderjoe, you are the ONLY one who does not see this.

Geez, if Ira Miller says so I guess it must be true! Give me a minute to google "New York Jets" and see if anyone's written anything bad about them this offseason...

Glad to see the E-gurls on that list! But those fools always draft well and have good coaches so they are always dangerous.

Truth hurts......Problem is Most Jets fans admit we are rebuilding. Whereas Raider fan believes that Auntie Al puts the best talent in the world on the Raiders...

HEy its all good . Your entitled to your opinion and keep holding onto the notion that Raiders aren't going to be very good next year. Just will make it more enjoyable for me, when your wrong. I Can wait.

I think you will be waiting a little( Probably alot longer ) than me. Most of the pieces are in place now for Raiders, on both sides of ball. Unbelievable young deep team now on both sides of the ball.

BTW The mediots are never wrong. Chargers just a few year ago ,they said had the worst team in football. LMao How did that turn out. I could careless what some mediot thinks ,or what you think is going to happen. We will see when games are played. Won and loss record. Than we will see who tries to deny they ever said that.(after the fact)

I don't believe any Raiders fan thinks they are going to superbowl this year. I do think they can be a playoff team this year. Even playing in the best divison in football.

The AFC West is not the best division in football because it has the Raiders in it.

The NFC East, NFC South, and AFC North are all better divisions top to bottom.

To be honest I pretty much agree with this article 100%. And if the Jets were one of the 5 teams going in the wrong direction I wouldn't complain--the awkward situation with Pennington & Martin plus going with yet another new coaching staff has kind of forced our hand.

Rebuilding what? You been to AFc Championship or the superbowl recently. Raiders won three straight AFC West divisonal titles from 2000 -2002. THey had one of the oldest roster, and they have been rebuilding since 2003. (They transformed the roster from one of the oldest to one of the youngest teams in all football. They made their run and it was time to build another core of players.

NOrv turner might have been a lousy head coach, but he should get some credit for going with youth. His sucessor ART Shell going to get the benefits (has alot of young talent pretty much everywhere)

Mangini is following the AL davis blueprint of two years ago, took best LT R Gallery and C J Grove with his first two picks. Where your guys are rookies Raiders players are veterans.

Raiderjoe, let's make a bet with the upcoming seasons.

If the Raiders make the playoffs in the upcoming season, you wear a sig of my choice from the end of the last game in week 17 until the first of the next season, and vice versa.

Shouldn't the bet be IF raiders made playoffs you use the sig of MY choice for same time period. IF Raiders don't make playoffs, than I use the sig of your choice.

I'd like to see your scientific poll that represents all Raider fans. I've said it before, every fan has a right to be optimistic in the offseason. The Jets are a 4-12 team just like Oakland and there are PLENTY of optimistic voices on this board, no?

Just when I making a Bet(even when it dosen't involve cash) I want to make sure both parties are clear. What actually bet is. I agree to your bet sir and not only will use that sig on here but on Raider board as well.

And the Raiders IMPLODED right after Chuckie left and HUMILIATED you in the SB...You have been on a slide ever since, and continue to make bonehead moves.

One good way to avoid being humiliated in the Super Bowl is to just completely skip it for oh, 36 years or so. We imploded when Chuckie left, you imploded after Weeb Ewbank left.

But you're having a great offseason...
