For the purposes of this projection, we'll say San Francisco wins the toss. 1. Cleveland Browns - Sam Darnold QB USC 2. New York Giants - Josh Rosen QB UCLA 3. Indianapolis Colts - Bradley Chubb DE North Carolina St. 4. Cleveland Browns (Houston) - Saquon Barkley RB Penn St. 5. Denver Broncos - Baker Mayfield QB Oklahoma 6. New York Jets - Josh Allen QB Wyoming Yes, it's a running theme -- this is another landing spot for Cousins. If the Jets don't sign him in free agency, Allen makes a lot of sense if Mayfield is off the board. There is a significant drop-off in talent after the first four QBs in this draft, so the Jets need to make sure they grab one here. Allen had an impressive performance at the Senior Bowl, showing off his arm and his mobility. There are still concerns about his accuracy and ability to make multidimensional throws consistently, but all the tools are there. And he has the prototypical QB build (6-4 7/8, 237). 7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Minkah Fitzpatrick S Alabama 8. Chicago Bears - Calvin Ridley WR Alabama 9. San Francisco 49ers - Denzel Ward CB Ohio St. 10. Oakland Raiders - Tremaine Edmunds DE/OLB Virginia Tech 11. Miami Dolphins - Quenton Nelson G Notre Dame 12. Cincinnati Bengals - Connor Williams T Texas 13. Washington Redskins - Roquan Smith LB Georgia 14. Green Bay Packers - Marcus Davenport DE UTSA 15. Arizona Cardinals - Orlando Brown T Oklahoma 16. Baltimore Ravens - Vita Vea DT Washington 17. Los Angeles Chargers - Derwin James S Florida St. 18. Seattle Seahawks - Mike Hughes CB UCF 19. Dallas Cowboys - Maurice Hurst DT Michigan 20. Detroit Lions - Isaiah Wynn G Georgia 21. Buffalo Bills - Rashaan Evans LB Alabama 22. Buffalo Bills (Kansas City) - Da'Ron Payne DT Alabama 23. Los Angeles Rams - Billy Price C/G Ohio St. 24. Carolina Panthers - Christian Kirk WR Texas A&M 25. Tennessee Titans - Dallas Goedert TE South Dakota St. 26. Atlanta Falcons - James Daniels C/G Iowa 27. New Orleans Saints - Harold Landry OLB Boston College 28. Pittsburgh Steelers - Josh Jackson CB Iowa 29. Jacksonville Jaguars - Hayden Hurst TE South Carolina 30. Minnesota Vikings - Mike McGlinchey T Notre Dame 31. New England Patriots - M.J. Stewart CB North Carolina 32. Philadelphia Eagles - Taven Bryan DT Florida
Interesting hypothetical following the way this draft plays out. If they Jets do sign Cousins in FA, Chubb and Barkely are off the board at 6. Would you trade down with Buffalo and take 21 and 22. You can come away with two of, McGlinchey, Price, Landry, Kirk. Depends on who else has been signed during FA obviously but I like the move if QB is set and Chubb is off the board.
Well if they sign Cousins, and Barkley isn't there - assuming they couldn't trade up for him, which I most certainly would try to do - then trading down like you suggest makes sense. They can fill a lot of holes with two low 1st's and 2 2nds.
Hmm depends, in your scenario which QB's are still on the board for Buffalo to take with the 6 pick ? I don't like the idea of giving them a franchise guy. If it's the same way as Mcshays mock then I guess I would trade them the 6th overall and let them take josh Allen but I would be a bit nervous that he would turn into Carson wentz.
I wouldn't be opposed, but I think that I would want another pick as well (BUF has 2 2nds and 2 3rds as well I believe)
I'd possibly trade down, but not with Buffalo. Teams within a division almost never trade with each other. Getting two first round picks is tempting, but I'd stay put. If the Jets don't sign Cousins or Bridgewater, they have to draft a QB. As McShay says, there's a big dropoff in the level of QB prospects after Allen. He's risky, but I take a chance on him. Mac pretty much has to take a QB in this draft or he's gone. He might as well go down swinging and hope that Allen flashes early and often for the Jets. If I got scared off of Allen, I'd take one of Roquan Smith, Connor Williams, or if I couldn't sign a FA CB, Minkah Fitzpatrick. I'd already have signed my starting C in FA. I'm not sure that McGlinchey's all that great a prospect any more. It would be nice to add Landry and maybe Kirk, but I'd rather have Smith or Williams.
Trade down as we are weak in several areas. We need a shutdown corner and I believe that Josh Jackson is a top ten pick as I have watched alot of Iowa football. I would take jackson and Sony Michel rather than reaching for one of these qb's who all have too many questions imo.
If the draft fell this way there is a lot of reason to move down for more picks. Arden Key, possibly the best pass rusher is still on the board at #33. Two possible Nick Mangold clones are available at #23 and #26. We can get a 6'2" # 1 corner at pick #28. Not only is there a ton of talent available later but these players will be cap friendly allowing us to get more quality veterans in free agency.
If the board fell like this I wouldn’t mind going down to 15 and taking brown and getting Arizona’s 2nd and than try to package 2 2nds to move back up for Jackson or falk
