http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Source-Gerhart-to-work-out-for-Broncos-Jets.html (its on a few other sites as well) Not sure if this makes me feel that were gonna be less likely to see Leon next year, or less likely to see Trich. Eitherway i know this guys been on a lot of people heres radar.
I'd love to have him, but I don't think he'd be a wise pick if Leon doesn't get scooped up prior to the draft.
If (fullback) is asked of me I’ll do it. The team’s above all else well that is definitely what you want to hear in a player, isn't it?
Gerhart is a beast. But after signing LT...i didn't think the Jets would use a high draft pick on a HB....Gerhart is projected to go in the 2nd/3rd round.
Drafting back-to-back Doak Walker winners? Now that's ground and pound. I'm almost more excited to see who we take in the second round this year than the first!
Man, I would really like to see Gerhart in a Jets uniform. I think the Jets could make space on the roster for 4 or even 5 backs now that they aren't suiting up 2 STs wideouts. This type of thing was the reason that made Wallace Wright expendable.
Toby Gerhart isn't going to play fullback. The guy is clearly a running back and he proved that at Stanford and at the combine.
I could see him in the mold of an Alstott-esque RB/FB hybrid. The guy is simply too big not to use as a blocker.
I just looked this guy up (not knowing much about college football) and had a 'Touchdown Tommy' Vardell flashback.
Toby Gerhart's getting that "fullback" label because he's white. The guy isn't just out there to run people over, he has the speed and vision to break off long runs. If the Jets select the Great White Hope, then I'll be a happy man on draft day. Rice's Sam McGuffie is another white guy that will play running back in the NFL. He's one of the most ridiculously talented athletes that I've ever seen.
This. He's a decent pass catcher so lining him up in the backfield with Tomlinson would just be crazy.
Oh hell yes. I'm quite jealous of the Patriots this year, but I think they'll fuck it up. If Tanny had three picks in the second round this year, we'd be the class of the NFL... forever!
He's only 225 to 230. It's normal for running backs in this league to weight that much. Montario Hardesty weighs about 225, and I don't see anyone saying he should play fullback.
I definitely agree with that. I just think it's funny that so many people assume he HAS to play fullback at some point.
