I am just trying to get a general feel on if jets fans would rather stay at #6 or trade down this year.

I absolutely, 100% understand why people want to trade down and I normally support it. The draft is mainly a crapshoot and it is always better to get more bites at the apple, hoping you can hit on one of the lower picks and add more talent to the roster as a whole.

With this being said, I do not support trading down this year (unless we get blown away with an offer, obviously). I think the Jets are yearning for young, blue-chip players. If this is to be a rebuild, we need young players that can define the culture. We are off to a great start with Leonard Williams, but the addition of someone like Jamal Adams, Malik Hooker, Fournette, or Mike Williams could really speak to what culture this team is trying to build. Think of the wonders that Khalil Mack, Patrick Peterson, Earl Thomas, and AJ Green did to their franchises. They helped put them on the map and become respectable franchises.

I understand the cupboard is bare for the jets right now, but I would prefer to have a higher chance of selecting a pro-bowl caliber talent then getting more picks and getting more quality players. What say you guys?

Garret is the only guy I want in the top six.

After Garret and Jonathan Allen the next 12 guys are in the same tier as far as I'm concerned.

This sums it up for me. If you already have your culture, and a winning attitude, then trading down and finding guys who complement that attitude is fine. But allegedly the Jets are trying to build from the ground up. There's no actual proof of that, aside from cutting contracts, but it's a hopeful sign. IF that is the plan, then they absolutely need to begin by adding the highest quality guys they can. For me that starts with a QB who has a winner's mindset and track record to go with it, which is why I'm pushing so hard for Mahomes or Watson with that first pick. These guys would set the tone. But whether they take one of them first, they need to add the the highest impact players, who also have the character traits they want. This is why I'm also high on guys like Reddick, McCaffrey, Peppers, Lamp to name several. But the "face of the franchise" will likely be found the closer to the top you draft. Not a guarantee, but the odds favor it, so no, I wouldn't trade down this year for sure.

It would depend who is on the board when the Jets are on the clock. As of now, I would have to get a major haul to trade back if Adams or Fournette are on the board. If they are both gone, I would try to trade back.

Interesting. I would elevate Jamal Adams and Fournette to that top tier, but to each his own I guess

According to one draft report , there are about 12 players graded above 90 - out of 100. I support the idea of the Jets trading down , just not sure how far down to a point where they don't obtain a real good player.
