Extremely hard loss vs the Patriots, but for my own sanity I’m going to move on and look ahead.

Last week I started a similar thread and gave an optimistic outlook of our remaining schedule. I’m not going negative, but I think we (I) have to be realistic about the remaining teams we face.

My main theme: The Jets can expect every game (except Jacksonville) to be a dogfight. They can win it, but they have to be prepared.

No more comments about our “easy” schedule beginning with Miami. I’m looking realistically at what we have ahead of us. It’s important to put yourself in the shoes of the other team to see what their motivation is.

    Week 8 – Miami Dolphins
Is anybody assuming a win here? If so, why? They are 3-3 and have the Jets and the Colts the next 2 weeks. These are “must wins” for the Fins because they are still in the hunt and their schedule is brutal after the Colts. Not to mention that they’ll want payback for blowing it in Miami. Remember, we are a “must win” for the Fins and I expect them to come out swinging. Expect a dogfight.

    Week 9 – Bye

(Comment: Which of the next 4 games are we a lock to win?)

    Week 10: @ Seattle Seahawks
MUCH better than I gave them credit for. Not loaded with offensive talent, but they play to win. I admire this team. Their defense is awesome, and their offense is inconsistent, but they get it done. I believe the Seahawks offense will improve every week and expect this game to be as tough, or tougher, than the Patriots game. Do I need to remind anyone of how each team faired against the Niners?

Week 11: @ St. Louis Rams
They will likely be 3-5 when they face us (they have the Patriots next week) and will be in need of a win. They’ve beaten Seattle and Arizona and all but one of their games have been close.
    They’re 3 & 1 at home.

    Week 12: New England Patriots
Sure, we’ll be looking for payback, but they will likely be on top of the division and looking to maintain it. The Pats are not the team many expected, but I have to believe they will pull it together in the next 4 weeks. We may face a different team on November 22.

    Week 13: Arizona Cardinals
They’re 4-3 but reeling right now. The next 4 weeks of their schedule is a nightmare. They will likely have a losing record when they face us, but keep in mind they have beaten Seattle, New England, Philadelphia and Miami (by 3!!). They are inconsistent, but the potential is there.

Which of the previous 4 games is "easier"?

Week 14: @ Jacksonville Jaguars – I’m assuming we win this.

    Week 15: @ Tennessee Titans
I’m a little baffled by this team, but they are better than their 3-4 record indicates. I think they will be 7-6 when they face us, if not better, and will need a win as bad as we will. The Titans can put up the points. They beat the Steelers, we didn’t. Very tough game in Nashville.

    Week 16: San Diego Chargers
The Chargers are a mystery, but they are 3-3 and can easily win their next 3 games (Browns, Chiefs, Bucs), but then face Broncos, Ravens, Bengals, Steelers, Panthers. Who knows, but if the Chargers are still in the hunt, they’ll have motivation. They can also put a lot of points on the board.

    Week 17: @ Buffalo Bills
Like us, they got stomped by the 9ers; like us, they’re 3-4 after losing a heartbreaker to the Titans. They have the Texans and the Patriots their next 2 games, but then some easier games. The fact is they could be around .500 or above when they play us and may be in playoff contention. This game may depend on where each team stands in the playoff picture, and its in Buffalo.

My Point: I don’t see an easier schedule. Some teams may falter before we face them and have no playoff motivation, but as it stands now, I think we can expect dog fights from here on.

Not to kick us when we’re down, but if Miami makes a FG we could be 2-5 right now. On the other hand, if we didn’t give away the Texans and Patriots games, we could be 5-2.
The nightmare scenario, we are 3-9 after week 13. No kidding.

I was hoping for 4-4 at the bye, and I am hoping for 6-6 after week 13.
    Anyone see it differently?

I don't expect a dogfight next week. I honestly think we win easily. The Dolphins are NOT a good team. They remind me of last year when the Bills got off to a good start and people were putting them in the playoffs after 5 weeks. They have a rookie QB, and he's not coming into our building and beating us. In fact, when we played them a few weeks ago he had a 50 rating against us. If we didn't leave points all over the field that day, we would have won by 2 TD's in regulation ... which I expect to do on Sunday. Under Rex, we don't lose to the bad teams. The problem is, we never beat any of the good ones any more.

The way I see it, we need to win one of the following to go 9-7. @Seattle, @Tennessee, SD, NE. As long as we don't lose all 4, I think we'll be in the playoff mix at 8-7 going into that last game @ Buffalo.

I don't disagree about the Fins, our offense is much better now too, but they will have some real motivation if they consider what's ahead of them. I expect to win it, my bigger point is the 4 games after the bye. I've read guys talking about our easier schedule, and I just don't see it. We CAN win 'em, but nothing will be easy.

I expect another tough game against the Dolphins. But if we wanna make the playoffs those are the kind of games you have to win.

Go into the bye at 4-4 which isn't bad.

After the bye I expect a loss to Seattle on the road. Very tough environment. Then we should beat the Rams which puts us at 5-5. Beat the Pats at home to go 6-5.

I think we beat the Dolphins easily. the Seahawks game will be a defensive game, whoever's offense makes a mistake will lose.

a lot of toss up games after that. Jax, Buff and STL I think we win.

Must beat the fins next week and go into the bye at 4-4. From there its simply a matter of one game at a time. If we continue to improve then we should be in good shape. Losing Revis and Holmes should have been a death knell, instead players are stepping up and that says alot about character and coaching.

Titans,Miami,Chargers, and even Buffao might be there at the end of the season wild card wise so we need to win these games tie breaker wise, and the Thanksgiving game will likeley have huge implecations and probably be a must win for us. I think we got 7-2 the rest of the way losing to the Seahawks and the Pats or someone else

We beat a rookie at home next week and go into the bye and get healthy (mangold, mcknight, greene, pouha, ellis, and everyone else). Rex uses the bye week to add practice time to his rag-tag team of basically 9 rookies learning under fire.

Rex keeps starting his new guys (davis, couples, hill, others) who are young and full of piss and vinegar. Come out of the bye on fire (unlike every other year) and lay waste to seattle.

beat the pats at home and win the afce.

    after that.....?

i consider myself the ultimate darksider and expect 5-11 this year but even i think if they can take care of business against the fish - we may have the opportunity to sniff
    .500 this year.

the game yesterday saw some encouraging play in the secondary and line of scrimmage.

if that continues then swing games like the chargers, titans, rams, and cardinals could be had.

this si what everyone said before the first game "just stop bush and they have a rookie qb and we blow them out".

well, easier said then done. Also, tannehill has looked better since then. and miami seems to always beat us physically front 7 on both sides of the ball.

I disliked this statement the most. yes we left points all over the field. the problem is, we ALWAYS leave points on the field. its who we are. we have inconsistent wideouts and an inconsistent QB and overall we dont protect the ball or field position.

miami was awful last year, and were out of it. we NEEDED a win against them much later in the year and shlt the bed. the thought we win because its a must win or they arent good dont seem very legit to me.

its going to be tough, and i think we struggle to win, and i could easily see a loss.

We can only afford 3 more loses, before were out of the playoffs - we got our work cutout for us.

MIA - Win - I think in that game they lost Revis, Holmes had a big game, but Sanchez targeted no one else and they ran poorly. Jets are running better, Sanchez is spreading the ball around more, and Keller is back.
    -Bye-
@ SEA - Win - Sorry I am not sold on Russel Wilson. They beat the Packers and Pats on last second bombs. Got crushed by SF and lost to the Cards and Rams. Good defense, but you can hold Wilson to under 50% compl.
    @ STL - Win - it's Schotty
NE - Loss - think this is a game for the division. Theie will be a lot of talk leading up to it, but typical Pats hype game they lose.
ARI - Win - they have no QB and will be on a nasty slide by this game.
@ JAX - Win - They have nothing to be happy about in Jax.
@ TEN - Loss - If Hasselback is at QB they lose.
SD - Win - SD in December is usually tough, but something is wrong with Rivers this year.
BUF - Loss - just don't match up well against all their speed

Rams are no gimmie. 3-1 at home(while beating some good teams). they have a top 10 defense this year, they are top 10 in sacks(quinn is 3rd in the NFL in sacks and second in qb pressures) and picks.

they actually are alot like us. very good defense, limit teams to FGs, cause turnovers. offesnively they want to run but are inconsistent and they also have a qb who is insanley inconsistent and bottom 5 overall.

its a pretty even matchup given they are at home.

They haven't lost anything because Revis is gone. The secondary has played solid ball.

The offense seems to be more in sync with Keller back and Kerley at the #1.

I gotta give Rex a win in Seattle after the bye simply b/c it gives us the tie breaker over NE. I believe both NE and NY finish 10-6, 5-1 in the division. Miami finishes 8-8. Buffalo 6-10.

    to be fair:

-Are you sold on sanchez? You can say the same about him.
-we lost to the pats last second and also got crushed by san fran.
-we have good defense, and sanchez is under 50% 5 of 7 games and is least in the NFL in that category

you also didnt mention they are at home(where they are undefeated), have the NFC's leading rusher(while we have a bottom 5 run defense).

are you sure? i mean, we lost some close games. you dont think revis would have helped at the end of either? you dont think revis would have helped at all on either of the patriots last couple drives where they threw all over us?
