RIVER FALLS, Wis. -- Kansas City starting left tackle Damion McIntosh could miss an extended period with a knee injury -- bad news for the Chiefs' already shaky line.

Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said Tuesday that doctors are still evaluating McIntosh's injury, initially diagnosed as a sprain. McIntosh hurt his right knee late Monday afternoon during practice and was taken off the field on a motorized cart.

    "He's hurting," Edwards said. "Right now he's week-to-week. It'll be a while."

The Chiefs signed McIntosh, a seven-year veteran who played previously at San Diego and Miami, during the offseason hoping he could fill the void created by left tackle Willie Roaf's abrupt retirement before last season.

Kansas City is also trying to replace another perennial Pro Bowler, guard Will Shields, who retired in the offseason.

Edwards said third-year pro Will Svitek, a former sixth-round draft choice and converted defensive lineman, will take over as the starter at left tackle despite having played in just three games during his NFL career.

"I've got to work hard on my fundamentals, because I lack experience," he said. "There's always pressure. This is the NFL. It's a high-performance business. You've got to step up."

Is it time to milk Herm again? I hope he pulls 1st rd-for-Kendall trade, as he would have been doing all year with the Jets.

Herm didn't make those idiot deals. Bradway did. Herm's an idiot on the field, Bradway was the schmuck in the office.

    Ah, right. My bad.

Still, "Time to milk Herm" stands correct. *evil grin*

Trust me, if we could get Herm to take Kendall, AND get a first day pick in return, I'd be ECSTATIC. I've already said I'd be content with a bag of balls for the guy.

  6. I know it's alittle hypocritical to poke fun at a inexperienced converted dd-linemen starting on KC's O-line, considering we have Brandon Moore...but gee wiz...a converted d-linemen w/ 3 games nfl experience playing left TACKLE?!

Things are gonna get ugly in KC...

I forgot about that. That's the KC training camp stuff right?

I wonder if they're going to show things like corner backs sleeping through team meetings?

I was thinking the exact same thing, Kurt. Herm is going to take this team into the depths of despair before it's all over and I'm finding it quite hilarious!

I mis read the quote was it Herm or The Guard who said "I have to work on my fundemental's; I lack experience"? Herm edwards will go down as the coach who makes the playoff's the most and goes no where!

I don't wish Herm bad luck, but that team just sounds bad this year.

They had better find a way to not run their only hope, Larry Johnson, into the ground. With a weaker oline, he is going to find things even tougher.

Hmmmm.......Herm goign into the 2007 season with a shaky offensive line. I wonder if they will lose 2 QB's on consecutive plays this year?

It would make sense to try and work a deal for a pick for Kendall being as though KC is in need.

Who picks up the slack when Kendall leaves?

Clarke does. I'm telling you, he may not be as predictably dependable and steadfast as Kendall has been overall in his time with the Jets, but he brings youth, more enthusiasm, more "ass" and more strength to the position than Kendall brought.

Of course, I would love to have Kendall here for one more season, but the more camp progresses, I'm not certain Kendall would have been an automatic shoe-in for the position. He did not have a stellar year last season and Clarke, as I say, brings a fairly big, fat, immovable ass to the line right now. I see the left side as being fairly secure at the moment, depth not withstanding because of the Kendall issue.

I was thinking exactly this, but you said it much more eloquently than I could possibly have done. Kudos, 227.

I think Larry Johnson is a hold out, no? I could be wrong...
