I'm not a big fan of Tierney's, but I thought this was quite an inspiring blog post...

I hate reading articles about how sad and pathetic the history of the NYJ is. This franchise has been relevant since '98.

That's a great post. I love BT on ESPN and the wheelhouse. The jets might have been relevant since 98(Still behind the giants, yanks, knicks, rangers and even the mets), but no where NEAR the level they are at now, being relevant and being relevant as a year by year super bowl contender are 2 different things.

Good, inspiring writing. And he's right, we need to collectively as fans, throw away the loser mentality of the past, and expect a win Sunday, and a trip to the Super Bowl. Don't be afraid, they have this.

Personally, I've been having trouble with all this success because I "know" it will all come crashing down on us as usual. It's a 2nd class citizen mentality that's been permeating the franchise and it's fans since I can remember. I was born in 1970...I just turned freaking 40 this year. Enough's, enough, it's our time. Finally.

uh oh. "Not this season. Not this coach."

you know what I'm getting at.

I'm going to play homer here, but I don't see how the Jets lose.

If Cromartie and Revis bring the coverage like the Pats game and the Jets can keep the middle bottle necked...

Is Mendenhall fast enough to beat the Jets around the edges?

The Jets have been to the playoffs 6 times in the last 10 season correct? This is the 2nd AFC Championship game...I think a lot of teams would kill for this kind of failure.

Great article thanks for posting it.

We've watched our New York Jets accomplish so many incredible things this season. I'm still nervous for the Steelers game but, this is the fourth time we've been here in the last 30 years, I'll deal with it.

You just get the feeling that something very special is brewing. Here's to the Empire State Building beaming green and white till mid-February.

    Go Jets!!!

What does making the playoffs 6 out of 10 years mean without even a super bowl appearance? Some franchises and their fans may be okay with just making the playoffs and having nice seasons. I'm not, I want my team to win the super bowl especially now when they have the coaching, talent and the heart to do it.

Awesome article. It is nice to think positive thoughts about the Jets for once without feeling like I'm jinxing the team / game.

Good article, I no longer hold BT's weak griping about how the Jets didn't win convincingly enough in the regular season against him. It's true, this is the best team we've watched since 98. The other playoff teams since then have been good, but I never thought any of them had what it takes to go all the way.

That's the difference between being a fan of a average team and being a fan of a elite team. The expectation gets higher as your team gets better and just being "happy to be in the playoffs" just isn't good enough anymore. Like LeGreca said on 1050: "Don't settle!"

He's plenty fast enough to get around the edge. Do you even watch any Steeler games? What we need to do is set those edges and keep him from running to the outside like he did against us in week 15. I remember watching film on Mendenhall and I thought he was the best back in that draft class.

This is going to be a battle. I can't wait.

I'm not happy to just be in the playoffs, and it would royally suck if we don't win the SB. (Highly unlikely) But what's different between this Jet team and Jet teams that have made the playoffs in the past is that we FINALLY have a top coach and a QB who in my opinion is the goods. Parcells/Vinny was never going to last long, and Herm/Pennington were just not good enough. I really feel like this current Jets team is poised for success.

Surprising coming from him, he has been very negative this year.

I've been harassing him on twitter about it. I knew this NE win was big, but it's changed a lot of peoples thoughts on Rex and the Jets.

Now since we backed the talk up the media and even other fans want more this week. It's absolutely crazy what one win can do.

For those that already on this attitude I commend us. ha

Summary: They were mediocre when we thought they were better than that.

FO/CS got good, we can win it all.
